The Pahrump Valley High School track and field team hosted a multi-team meet on Thursday, March 12, welcoming Beatty, Green Valley, Laughlin, Round Mountain and Tonopah to Trojan territory for a full afternoon of competition.
With a large invitational meet scheduled the very next day in Virgin Valley, the Trojans approached the home meet with a strategic mindset. Many varsity athletes limited their workload to just one or two events—or sat out entirely—giving younger athletes and depth pieces an opportunity to gain valuable race experience while still allowing several top performers to shine.
Even with a modified lineup, Pahrump Valley delivered a strong showing across both track and field events.
The distance crew set the tone early in the 4×800-meter relay, where the boys team of Nathan Miller, Timmy Stutzman, Josh Gent and Logan Tilley claimed first place against Green Valley with a time of 9:53.24. On the girls side, Ava Bowers, Kimberly Trejo, Sophie Romero and Alexis Clouser ran unopposed but still posted a solid time of 12:06.26.

In the hurdles, Logan Whaley led the boys with a second-place finish in the 110-meter hurdles in 22.18, while Ella Odegard matched that result for the girls, taking second in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 19.56.
Sprint events were highlighted by a dominant performance from Ben De Santiago, who swept the short sprints. He took first in the 100-meter dash in 11.41, added another first-place finish in the 200 meters with a time of 23.43, and capped his day with a win in the 400 meters in 53.78. His versatility and consistency were a key highlight for the Trojans.
In the boys 100-meter dash, Pahrump showed strong depth with a large field of competitors. Justin Byers led the next group in seventh (12.20), followed by Aeden Redditt (12.26), Ulisses Alvarez (12.47), Rene Gonzalez Valdez (12.58) and Joseph Scheer (12.92), with several others contributing solid efforts across the board. For the girls, Anjolina Mercado paced the Trojans with a second-place finish in 14.03, while Christine Williams cracked the top 10 in 14.69 and a large group of runners followed closely behind.


Relay teams also found success. The boys 4×200 relay team of Justin Byers, Tyler Weaver, Joseph Scheer and Mossiah Readus placed second against Green Valley in 1:51.15, while the girls quartet of K’Lynn Butler, Jayda Camden, Melanie Carson and Dyana Castro matched that result with a second-place finish in 2:09.98. In the 4×100 relay, the boys ran unopposed and posted a time of 51.49, while the girls secured second in 1:00.17.
Distance runners continued to impress in the 1600 meters, where Logan Tilley took first for the boys in 5:03.20. Timmy Stutzman added a sixth-place finish (5:36.29), followed by Jacob Seeback in seventh (5:44.09). On the girls side, Jules Ondrisko claimed first in 5:59.09, with Alexis Clouser placing third in 6:32.90.
The 800 meters saw another strong showing, as Joaquin Flores captured first place in 2:06.79, followed by Josh Gent in second at 2:17.05. Additional finishes came from Jacob Seeback, Akim Khan and Isaiah Veloz. For the girls in the 800 meters, Addi Nelsen led the way with a first-place finish, crossing the line in 2:40.44. Sarah Brown followed with a time of 3:09.52, and Christine Williams finished just behind in 3:10.09, rounding out a strong showing for the Trojans in the middle-distance event.





In the 300-meter hurdles, Pahrump dominated the boys race, sweeping the top three spots. Kris Trejo led the way with a first-place finish in 47.38, followed by Aeden Redditt in second (52.93) and Evan Strain in third (55.37). On the girls side, Jules Ondrisko added another victory to her day, winning in 52.76, while Ella Odegard finished second in 55.29.


The 400-meter races showcased depth as well. Behind De Santiago’s win, Kris Trejo placed sixth (57.77) and Evan Strain followed in seventh (58.05). For the girls, Arionna Carson led with a fourth-place finish in 1:13.79, just ahead of Sarah Brown in fifth (1:14.28).
In the boys shot put, Sonny Skinner led the way with a second-place finish, recording a throw of 41 feet, 7 inches. Brenden Thorn followed with a fourth-place throw of 32-7, while Taysom Christensen placed fifth at 31-11. Cade Wulfenstein added a mark of 29-4, with Juan Carlos Rodriguez (28-1) and Chasen Hamann (27-5) continuing to build depth in the event. Julio Ackerman (23-0.5), Ace Blumer (22-3.5), Lucas Silva (22-1), Joseph Kirkpatrick (21-10) and Ethan Marsh (20-10) rounded out a full slate of competitors for the Trojans.








On the girls side, Chanel Thorn led Pahrump with a third-place finish in shot put at 24-6. Close behind were Nyomi Skinner (24-2), Kaitlyn Brown (23-1) and Cailyn Marsh (23-0), showing strong consistency across the group. Ava Bowers added a throw of 22-1.5, while Savannah Thompson (17-5) and Kaylie Abrego (15-7) continued to gain valuable experience in competition.
The boys discus competition proved to be one of the highlights of the meet, as Brenden Thorn captured first place with a throw of 118-8. Teammate Sonny Skinner was right behind him in second at 118-7, giving the Trojans a dominant one-two finish. Chasen Hamann placed fourth with a throw of 105-7, while Cade Wulfenstein (84-3) and Juan Carlos Rodriguez (75-3) added solid marks. Additional throws came from Taysom Christensen (72-8), Ethan Marsh (61-8), Lucas Silva (61-6), Ace Blumer (53-6), Joseph Kirkpatrick (45-1.5) and Julio Ackerman (38-11).



For the girls in discus, Kaitlyn Brown led the Trojans with a second-place throw of 72-9. Chanel Thorn followed with a mark of 63-4, while Nyomi Skinner (59-0) and Cailyn Marsh (55-1) continued to show consistency in the circle. Kaylie Abrego added a throw of 52-0 to round out the group.


In the long jump, Evan Strain led the boys with a sixth-place finish at 15-4. Kelan Sheppard followed with a jump of 14-3.5, while Samuel Sylva (12-7), Kris Trejo (12-2), Josh Flores (11-11) and Everest Leavitt (11-1) all contributed efforts. On the girls side, Savannah Thompson tied for fourth with a jump of 12-10, leading the group. Sarah Brown followed at 11-7.5, with Mitzy Godinez adding a jump of 11-4.


The high jump saw strong performances from both teams. Kris Trejo claimed first place for the boys, clearing 5-6, while Evan Strain added a jump of 5-2. For the girls, Kimberly Trejo took first with a clearance of 4-8, while Aurora Bowers and Rosie Miller each cleared 4-6 to finish just behind her.
In the triple jump, Daniel Thompson captured first place for the boys with a leap of 34-8. Sarah Brown represented the girls with a strong jump of 25-0, continuing her busy and productive day across multiple events.h to lead the girls, while Evan Strain paced the boys.


Due to time constraints, the 3200-meter run and the 4×400 relay were canceled, slightly shortening the meet schedule.
Despite the adjusted varsity participation, the meet proved valuable for the Trojans. With strong performances across multiple events and a deep roster gaining experience, Pahrump Valley used the home meet exactly as intended—building momentum, sharpening race execution and preparing for the more competitive stage awaiting them at the Virgin Valley Invitational the following day.
