Manse Elementary School Principal, Mrs. Gilligan, is a firm believer in the importance of supporting her staff’s well-being. Last spring, she embarked on a mission to refresh the school’s staff lunchroom, aiming to create a comfortable and inviting space where her team could relax and recharge. While initial attempts to secure funding for the project proved challenging, Mrs. Gilligan’s determination never wavered. Embracing a proactive approach, she launched a successful fundraising campaign to turn her vision into a reality.

With a deep appreciation for the idea that “it takes a village,” Mrs. Gilligan witnessed the true power of community support. Donations poured in from various sources, helping her raise the funds needed for a complete transformation of the staff lunchroom. Local custodians chipped in with their time and effort, while the school district approved the necessary paint and supplies. Thanks to the generosity of community organizations and businesses, including the VEA, the Fitzgibbon family, Enhanced Aesthetics & Wellness, the Pahrump Rotary Club, Universal Life, and an anonymous business in Las Vegas, the lunchroom was given a stunning refresh with new furniture, decor, and much-needed essentials.

“I am beyond excited to share the before and after photos of this incredible transformation,” Mrs. Gilligan said. “The support we received from the community has been overwhelming, and this project would not have been possible without them.”

Manse Elementary School’s staff lunchroom refresh was truly a team effort, with significant contributions from Ms. Mendoza, the Explorations Teacher, and Mrs. Bueno, a first-grade teacher. Both teachers dedicated countless hours to the project, gathering input from staff members by organizing votes on the decor and overall theme for the space. They also created a detailed wishlist of items needed to complete the refresh. Over their summer break, Ms. Mendoza and Mrs. Bueno worked tirelessly to bring the vision to life, ensuring that the new space would meet the needs of their colleagues and provide a welcoming place to relax and recharge.

The refreshed lunchroom is now a bright, welcoming space where staff members can unwind and find respite during their busy workdays. The initiative has made a meaningful difference in the school environment, promoting mental well-being for the teachers and staff who dedicate so much of their energy to the students. Mrs. Gilligan’s project is a testament to the power of community spirit, and it has left a lasting positive impact on Manse Elementary.
