If you give a mom the opportunity to shower,
she’s going to grab a fresh towel from the dryer.
While grabbing the towel,
she’ll decide she might as well fold & put away the clean load of laundry.
When hanging the kids’ shirts,
she’ll notice dirty clothes for the washer.
As she’s putting the dirty clothes in the washer,
she’ll see the paper towel roll needs replacing.
When throwing away the empty tube,
she’ll decide it’s time to take out the trash.
While considering taking out the trash,
she remembers the kitty litter that needs cleaning.
After cleaning the kitty litter,
she’ll take it & the kitchen trash to the dumpster.
While walking back from the dumpster,
she’ll stop by the mailbox & the little free library.
As she’s checking the library’s contents,
she’ll spot the over grown garden.
After working on the garden in the summer heat,
she’ll exclaim that she really, really needs a shower.
Disclaimer/Reality Check: This is based off the true events of this afternoon, when I declared I needed a shower after gym. Two hours later, I finally hopped in the shower. This column will be about motherhood, parenting, and homemaking for the most part. It might be a parody of a kids’ book or a serious chit-chat on playground manners. Most importantly, I don’t ever want this column to make another mama think she’s not doing enough. If you’re reading this, I want you to know that you are, you’re doing great, keep it up. Sing it with me: no-one is doing it allllll!
