Everyone is Screaming
(sung to the tune of Lego’s Everything is Awesome)
Everyone is screaminnnnng,
Everyone is loud when you’re with family!
Everyone is screaming
when you’re living the dream!
Everyone is louder when we are together,
Side by side, you and I are gonna play forever!
Let’s play foreverrrrrr.
We’re the same,
I’m like you, you’re like me
you & me we are playing in harmony.
Everything is Awesome,
Everything is cool when you’re with family,
Everything is Awesome when you’re living the dream.
The original song has randomly popped in my head daily since our trip to Legoland in October. These re-made lyrics are now what I hum to myself when I’m feeling overwhelmed by the volume level in our home. I didn’t rewrite the song in entirety because the beginning and chorus are all that play on my mental loop anyways. Noise is not always bad, even if my nervous system still thinks it is. Someday, when the house is completely quiet, I’ll probably wish I had enjoyed the joyful screaming while it lasted. Even when they’re all screaming, it’s still the dream to me.
Disclaimer/Reality Check: The screaming is not always joyful here, we’re normal family with normal sibling arguments and toddler tantrums and that’s ok, too. My loop earbuds also really help when the volume is just not-so-awesome. This column will be about motherhood, parenting, and homemaking for the most part. It might be the details of my appliance cleaning rotation or vague hints to send my hubby for date night. Most importantly, I don’t ever want this column to make another mama think she’s not doing enough. If you’re reading this, I want you to know that you are, you’re doing great, keep it up. Sing it with me: no-one is doing it allllll!
