Two years.
It’s hard to believe that we have already been serving the Pahrump Valley community for two years. Looking back, it’s incredible to see just how many stories have been told, milestones celebrated, businesses introduced, championships won, fundraisers supported and community memories preserved.
When we started this newspaper, our goal wasn’t to become the biggest news organization or chase headlines. Our goal was much simpler: tell the positive stories happening every day throughout our community—the stories that too often go unnoticed but deserve to be remembered.
That mission hasn’t changed.
What many people don’t realize is that PVC.news is, and always has been, a family-owned newspaper operated by a staff of just two people.
Every article, every photograph, every interview, every late-night deadline, every social media post, every email, every trip across town, or across the state, is handled by the two of us. Some days begin before sunrise and don’t end until well after midnight, but we continue because we genuinely believe these stories matter.
We know we can’t be everywhere.
Pahrump is growing, and there are more events, organizations, youth sports teams, businesses and community gatherings than two people could ever cover. While we may occasionally miss something, please know it is never because we don’t care. We do our very best to cover as much as possible, and we are always grateful when members of the community reach out to let us know about upcoming events, achievements or stories they feel deserve attention.
In fact, we encourage it.
If there’s something happening in our community that you think people should know about, let us know. Some of our favorite stories over the past two years have come directly from readers who simply sent us a message and said, “I think this would make a great story.”
This newspaper has never been about chasing controversy or clicks. It has always been about serving our community by telling the stories that matter. Most often, that means celebrating the people, businesses, schools and organizations that make Pahrump such a special place. Occasionally, it also means covering complex issues that have a significant impact on our community. When we do, our commitment remains the same: to present the facts as accurately, fairly and objectively as we can, allowing our readers to make informed decisions for themselves.
At its heart, though, this newspaper has always been about people.
It’s about the student who earns a scholarship after years of hard work.
The small business owner opening their dream storefront.
The youth athlete celebrating a championship.
The nonprofit raising money to help local families.
The volunteer quietly making a difference.
The neighbor doing something extraordinary simply because it’s the right thing to do.
Those stories deserve to be told, and we’re honored every time someone trusts us to tell them.
As we celebrate this anniversary, there are several groups of people we want to thank.
To everyone who has clicked the Donate button on our website—thank you. Your generosity has helped keep this publication going more than you probably realize.
To every business that has advertised with us over the past two years—thank you for believing in local journalism and investing not only in your own business, but in ours as well. Your support has allowed us to continue showing up day after day to tell our community’s stories.
And to everyone who has purchased photos from us—thank you.
One question we occasionally receive is why we don’t simply give our photos away for free. The honest answer is that we wish we could—but unfortunately, we just can’t.
PVC.news is entirely self-funded. There isn’t a large corporation behind us or a newsroom filled with dozens of reporters. It’s simply two people who care deeply about this community and are committed to documenting its stories, one event at a time.
Every photo purchase helps make that possible. Quite literally, each one represents another gallon of gas in the tank, helping us get to the next football game, ribbon cutting, fundraiser, school event or community celebration. Those purchases also help offset the many behind-the-scenes costs of operating a local newspaper, allowing us to continue providing free access to thousands of community stories while preserving the moments that matter most.
We are incredibly grateful to everyone who has chosen to purchase a photo over the past two years. Your support doesn’t just help us keep the lights on—it helps us continue showing up, camera in hand, ready to tell Pahrump’s story.
Your support—whether it’s reading our stories, sharing our posts on social media, donating, advertising, purchasing photos or simply telling someone about PVC.news—makes that possible.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for making these first two years something truly special.
We’re excited to see what stories the next year will bring, and we hope you’ll continue taking that journey with us.
Here’s to Year Three.
