Pahrump Valley High School’s culinary department will bring Cuban and tropical flavors to the table during “A Disco In Miami,” a themed dinner experience on Tuesday, Oct. 13, in the PVHS Culinary Room.
Prepared and served by PVHS culinary students, the dinner will feature a menu ranging from refreshing watermelon bites to an elevated version of the classic Cuban sandwich. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., with dinner beginning at 6 p.m.
Guests will start with watermelon and queso fresco with mint, accompanied by minty limeade. Baskets of tangy, savory plantain chips will also be available at each table.
The appetizer course features an empanada trio served with three sauces: smoky and spicy red pepper sauce, cilantro lime crema, and roasted garlic mojo. A Miami Vice granita will follow, offering a cold, tropical shaved ice refresher before the main course.
For the entrée, students will serve a Cubano made with freshly baked Cuban bread, slow-cooked mojo pork and house-made mustard. The sandwich will be paired with a bright citrus salad and seasoned fries.
The evening’s final course will be a caramelized pineapple sundae featuring homemade caramel sauce and vanilla ice cream.
The event gives community members an opportunity to enjoy a themed evening at the high school while experiencing the culinary students’ work through both food preparation and table service.
Tickets are $30 and must be purchased in advance. No tickets will be sold at the door, and organizers encourage guests to secure their seats early because they expect the dinner to sell out. Tickets are available at cur8.com/41310/project/141798.
