Maury Cook, the new Dean of PVHS, brings a wealth of experience and enthusiasm to his role. A veteran educator with 34 years in the field, Mr. Cook has served as a teacher, counselor, administrator, and coach. His journey in education has been driven by the challenge of learning, improving, and seeking new adventures. Now, he is eager to contribute to the success of PVHS.

“My goal is to work with the bright, dedicated, and student-centered administrators and staff here at PVHS to ensure that every student is a success,” Mr. Cook explains. He plans to achieve this by being a visible and active presence throughout the school and the broader community, promoting a safe and productive learning environment. His commitment to visibility extends beyond the school grounds, as he aims to be an advocate for education within the community as well.

A typical day for Mr. Cook involves being an asset to both staff and students, ensuring a positive and effective educational atmosphere. He finds the most rewarding aspect of his role is the opportunity to positively impact the lives of students and staff. However, he acknowledges that creating and maintaining this environment can be challenging.

Engagement with students, parents, and the community is a cornerstone of Mr. Cook’s approach. He hopes to make a significant positive impact by being accessible and working collaboratively with community members. “I will be working collaboratively with all of our community members to help all of our students reach their potential,” he notes.

Outside of his professional life, Mr. Cook is a passionate sports fan and enjoys traveling to watch his favorite teams play. He also loves working on DIY projects in his shop and exploring outdoor activities. These hobbies help him balance his work in education and bring a sense of fulfillment and relaxation to his life.

    Mr. Cook and his family

Mr. Cook’s dedication to young people is evident in his advocacy for students and his genuine interest in getting to know those he serves. With his extensive background and commitment to education, Mr. Cook is poised to make a significant impact at PVHS.
