Pahrump Valley High School’s singles standout, Chanel Anthony, capped off her season by representing the Trojans at the State tennis tournament on Friday, October 24, at Bishop Gorman High School. Although she was eliminated in the first round, Anthony’s effort and determination against top competition reflected her growth and the strong season that earned her a place among Nevada’s best.
Facing Jeana Lee of Churchill County in the Quarterfinals, Anthony dropped the opening set 2–6, rallied to win the second 6–4, and ultimately fell 2–6 in the deciding set. Lee went on to finish fourth overall, while Yael Izkhakov of The Adelson School claimed the State Championship title.
Head Coach Michael Dela Rosa praised Anthony’s effort, saying, “She fought hard but fell short. We are proud of her.”
Anthony’s appearance at State capped a season defined by steady improvement and resilience, signaling continued progress for the Pahrump Valley tennis program.
