For more than six decades, Country Financial Insurance has been woven into the fabric of Pahrump’s history—long before the town began its steady transformation into the vibrant, growing community it is today. What started in the 1960s as the Northwest Farm Bureau, serving early agricultural families like the Hafen farmers, has evolved into one of the area’s most trusted and enduring insurance and financial service providers. Today, that legacy continues under the leadership of Lisa Marie Spahitz-Plassmeyer, whose passion for service and community echoes through every aspect of the business.
The company’s journey mirrors the evolution of Pahrump itself. As the needs of residents expanded beyond farming, the organization grew with them, transitioning from Northwest Farm Bureau to Country Companies, then to Country Insurance and Financial Services, before adopting the name Country Financial that locals recognize today. This year marks a remarkable milestone for the organization as a whole — Country Financial celebrates its 100th anniversary, a century of offering protection, stability, and financial guidance to families across the nation. Through every name change and decade of growth, one thing has remained constant: a commitment to protecting families, businesses, and futures.
Much of that is thanks to Lisa’s husband, longtime agent Mike Plassmeyer, who dedicated more than 32 years to serving policyholders. Mike joined the company in the early days of its Pahrump presence and spent more than three decades building relationships, guiding clients through major life decisions, and becoming a familiar, dependable face in the insurance world. Though he “retired” about two years ago, Lisa laughs when she says the word—because, in reality, retirement didn’t stick.
“I was able to hire him back as a sub-producer under me,” Lisa said with a smile. “He still comes in part-time, because people still want to see him. He’s a creature of habit—he has to get up, get dressed, put on his suit pants and his shoes, and be here every morning at nine. It just doesn’t work any other way for him.”
That steady presence, Lisa believes, is part of why the business has remained trusted for so long. Clients appreciate that sense of reliability, knowing the same friendly faces have been there to help through everything from home purchases and teenage drivers to new businesses and retirement planning.
Today, Lisa leads the office with the same dedication her husband built it upon, and the business has become even more of a family endeavor. Her 20-year-old daughter, Alexus Marsh, now works alongside her as an assistant, helping with daily operations, client support, and the steady workflow that comes with running such a longstanding agency. Lisa is proud of how the business continues to grow across generations, noting that having Alexus in the office brings fresh energy and reinforces the company’s identity as a true family-run service rooted in community values.
Though Country Financial serves a broad range of needs, Lisa’s work has a deeply personal foundation: her desire to give back. For her, insurance is more than paperwork—it’s community service in a very direct form. “It’s a service to the community,” she said. “I’m super big on giving and giving back.”
And her actions reflect that commitment in a big way. Lisa has quietly completed countless acts of generosity that many people in town may never know about, but countless families and organizations have felt the impact. She has filled the fridge for the staff at Pahrump Valley High School. She catered lunch for the entire high school teaching staff—an effort she remembers costing around $1,500 but worth every penny for the joy it brought. During the surge in gas prices a few years ago, she donated a $100 gas card to help someone make ends meet. She and her husband have sponsored local sports, supported the football program, and donated bikes to the Angel Tree program.
Last year alone, the couple purchased two bicycles to bring Christmas magic to children in need. Lisa regularly donates to the Salvation Army—including sponsoring their iconic red kettle drive with a generous cash contribution—and she gives annually to the Rotary Club. She’s a member of the Pahrump Valley Chamber of Commerce and participates in women’s networking circles such as Band of Sisters, where she has purchased goods from local artisans and even brought food and wine for the group.
Her giving spirit extends well beyond formal organizations. When she sees a need, she quietly steps in—whether that means setting up teachers for success, helping families during tough times, or simply being a reliable source of support for community efforts.
Lisa is passionate about bringing that same spirit of service into her professional work. She is especially proud of the discounts Country Financial offers to educators and first responders. “They get 15% off,” she said. “That helps them a lot.” With so many teachers and first responders living in and around Pahrump, Lisa sees this as one small way to recognize the work they do every day.
For those seeking coverage—whether for home, auto, commercial needs, or financial services—Lisa encourages people to reach out directly. She prefers working closely with clients so she can tailor coverage and help identify all available discounts. The best way to reach her is by phone at 775-727-8920 or by email at lisa.spahitz@countryfinancial.com. Her office is centrally located at 1321 S. Highway 160, Suite 8, right next to Nevada State Bank in the Hafen Commercial Center, where the business has been for an impressive 28 years.
“We’ve been in the same office all this time,” she said. “Moving is such a pain—and we’re grandfathered in on the rent!” she added with a laugh, grateful for the stability the location has brought.
When asked why she remains so committed to Pahrump and to her work, Lisa’s answer is simple: this is home, and these are her people. She believes deeply in serving residents not only with insurance solutions, but with kindness, generosity, and genuine connection.
She even expressed interest in joining Soroptimist International of Pahrump Valley, a volunteer organization dedicated to improving the lives of women and girls—something perfectly aligned with her values. A missed email delayed the process, but Lisa hopes to become involved soon, especially after learning how widespread and impactful Soroptimist’s work is. “I would love to be a part of that,” she said.
From its roots in local farming to its longstanding presence in the Hafen Commercial Center, Country Financial Insurance has remained a pillar of consistency for Pahrump residents. But beyond the legacy of the business, it is the people at its heart—Lisa, Mike, and their unwavering dedication to community—that make the office a true local treasure.
With decades of experience, deep community ties, and a foundation built on generosity and service, Lisa Marie Spahitz-Plassmeyer continues to carry forward a tradition that has meant so much to so many. For her, the greatest reward is simple: being able to help the people of Pahrump in ways that matter—both inside and outside the office walls.
