Amber Randle’s career path and personal journey are a testament to resilience and adaptability. A proud graduate of Pahrump Valley High School in 2012, Amber pursued her passion for the culinary arts by attending CSN. Her plan was to work at Bizarre Meats on the Las Vegas Strip. However, life had different plans for Amber, who soon found herself pregnant and back in Pahrump. “My career journey definitely took a path of its own rather than following the plan I perceived,” Amber reflects. This unexpected turn led her to the Nye County Planning Department, where she now serves as a Secretary I.
Amber’s fondest memories of high school revolve around the camaraderie and spirit of game days, where everyone united to cheer for the sports teams, including the soccer team she played for. Her post-high school journey demonstrates her ability to adapt and thrive. After graduating from CSN with a degree in Culinary Arts, she faced the need for a stable income and benefits, leading her to apply for county positions and land her current role in the Planning Department.
A significant milestone in Amber’s professional life was managing a team as an Assistant Manager for Cherry Lash Lounge. She also made the tough decision to turn down a job offer that did not meet her personal expectations. Amber credits her daughter as the biggest influence on her career and personal development, stating, “My career path changed for the better, and I’m happy where I am.”
Amber has faced numerous challenges, including making decisions without knowing their outcomes and trusting the process. Her advice to those aspiring to follow a similar career path is to value networking as much as hard work and to always remain curious and eager to learn. “Don’t stay in a job where you aren’t advancing in pay, your position, or your knowledge,” she advises.
Balancing her professional and personal life is facilitated by her job’s accommodating nature, allowing her to spend quality time with her daughter Calista. Amber’s interests outside of work include working out, cooking, baking, and enjoying time with her daughter at the arcade. She dreams of becoming a planner in the Planning Department while growing her side baking business, Cakes n’ Bakes.
Amber’s journey is a reminder that life can take unexpected turns, but perseverance and adaptability can lead to fulfilling outcomes. “I just want to add, don’t give up. If your plan changes or your path feels like it’s getting longer, there will always be an end waiting for you, whether it’s how you expected or not. I’m happy my path changed the way it did. I’ve met some of the most incredible people along the way. Wouldn’t change it if I could.”
