Motorists traveling on State Route 160 next week are reminded to plan ahead as an oversized transformer transport makes its scheduled trip into Pahrump on Monday, July 13, followed by the return of the empty transport trailer on Thursday, July 16.
According to Nye County Public Works, the oversized load is expected to leave Las Vegas at approximately 6 a.m. Monday and arrive in Pahrump around noon. The convoy will travel west on State Route 160 beginning near South Buffalo Drive, cross Mountain Springs and continue through town before turning onto Panorama Road. The transformer will be delivered to a site on East Charleston Park Avenue.
Drivers should expect temporary traffic delays as the oversized load moves through the area. The transport will be accompanied by pilot vehicles and escorted by the Nevada Highway Patrol to help ensure the convoy travels safely along the route.
Once the transformer has been delivered, the empty transport trailer is scheduled to depart Pahrump for Las Vegas on Thursday, July 16, at approximately 11 a.m. Motorists may again encounter brief delays as the oversized equipment travels east on State Route 160.
Nye County Public Works encourages drivers to remain patient, use caution when approaching the convoy and follow directions from law enforcement officers and escort vehicles. Those traveling along the route on either day may want to allow additional travel time to accommodate the temporary traffic impacts.
