The Pahrump Valley High School boys’ golf team wrapped up its season with a strong showing at the NIAA State Golf Championship, held Tuesday and Wednesday, May 12-13, at Boulder Creek Golf Club in Boulder City. Competing against some of the top teams in Nevada, the Trojans battled through two days of challenging play to finish fourth overall in the state with a team score of 670.
The Trojans entered the second day firmly in contention after an impressive opening round on Tuesday. Aaron Rily led the way for Pahrump Valley with a round of 77, while Travis Floyd followed closely behind with a 78. Cayden Cowley added an 84, TC Hone carded a 91, and both Brody Myers and Keir Sheppard finished the day with rounds of 93.













At the conclusion of day one, the Trojans sat in second place overall with a team score of 330, trailing only Elko, which posted a 315.
Wednesday proved to be a tougher day on the course as conditions and pressure intensified during the final round. Rily again paced the Trojans with an 81, while Floyd shot an 87. Cowley and Hone each finished with rounds of 86, Myers posted a 97, and Sheppard added a 99.












Despite the more difficult second day, the Trojans remained competitive throughout the tournament and secured a top-four finish in the state standings. Elko claimed the state title with a two-day total of 641, followed by Virgin Valley at 663 and Lowry at 667. Pahrump Valley finished just behind Lowry with its 670 total.
Individually, Rily led the Trojans with a seventh-place finish overall, continuing his strong postseason play. Floyd finished 13th individually, while Cowley placed 21st and Hone took 27th. Myers finished 36th overall and Sheppard came in 37th.
The state tournament appearance capped off another successful season for the Trojans, who consistently competed near the top of the standings throughout the year and advanced through regionals to earn their place among Nevada’s best teams.
