Volunteers needed for October Remote Area Medical Clinic returning to Pahrump

Community members are invited to help make a difference this fall as volunteers are now being recruited for the Remote Area Medical (RAM®) Clinic hosted by NyE Communities Coalition, returning to Pahrump on Saturday, Oct. 3, and Sunday, Oct. 4.

The clinic will once again be held at the Pathways Building on the Pahrump Valley High School campus, where hundreds of patients are expected to receive free healthcare services over the two-day event.

While licensed medical, dental and vision professionals are always welcome to volunteer at the RAM Clinic, organizers say one of the greatest needs this year is for general support volunteers.

No medical experience is required for many of these positions. Volunteers may assist with a variety of important tasks, including data entry, serving as patient guides, helping assemble eyeglasses in the optical lab and providing general support throughout the clinic. These volunteers help ensure patients move efficiently through the clinic while allowing healthcare providers to focus on delivering care.

The annual clinic has become an important resource for residents throughout Pahrump and surrounding communities, offering access to healthcare services at no cost to patients, regardless of insurance status or ability to pay.

Last year’s RAM Clinic marked the 10th consecutive year the event was held in Pahrump. During the two-day clinic, approximately 400 patients received care valued at more than $281,000. Hundreds of volunteers worked alongside licensed healthcare professionals to help make the event possible, providing medical, dental and vision services while ensuring patients moved smoothly through the clinic. Many patients also left wearing brand-new prescription eyeglasses that were made on-site.

Founded in 1985, Remote Area Medical is a nonprofit organization that operates free pop-up clinics across the United States, bringing together volunteer healthcare professionals and community volunteers to deliver critical healthcare services to those in need. Since its founding, the organization has served more than one million patients through its nationwide network of volunteers.

Organizers encourage anyone interested in serving the community to consider volunteering during the October clinic. General support volunteers are essential to the success of the event and play a key role in helping patients have a smooth and positive experience.

Those interested in volunteering can register online at www.ramusa.org/volunteer.

For questions about volunteering or the upcoming clinic, contact NyE Communities Coalition at 775-727-9970.
