The Pahrump Valley High School tennis teams made the trip to Moapa Valley on Friday, September 12, and returned home with hard-fought victories on both the boys’ and girls’ sides. Each match came down to the wire, but the Trojans displayed grit and teamwork to pull out close wins against the Pirates.
For the boys, the contest ended 10-8 in Pahrump’s favor. Jace Eichner was the anchor, sweeping all three of his singles matches to deliver six crucial points. Teammate Sonny Skinner added two more points by winning two of his three matches. In doubles play, Bryce Dykstra and Juan Rodriguez chipped in with a key win, while the final and deciding point came from the duo of Ethan Johnson and Nick Watson. Their upset victory sealed the Trojans’ 10th point, clinching the match. “The boys really battled today, and it was great to see different players stepping up when we needed them,” said Coach Michael Dela Rosa.

The girls’ team was locked in an even tighter contest, ultimately edging out Moapa Valley 10-9, with a decisive tiebreaker. Chanel Anthony led the charge, winning all three of her singles matches. Nyomi Skinner contributed with two victories, while Ally Amador added another point. In doubles, the team of Chanel Burnell and Milly Khandpur dominated their opponents by winning all three of their matches. With the overall score tied at 9-9, the match went to a tiebreaker. That’s when senior Elise Eichner delivered an impassioned speech to rally her teammates. The Lady Trojans responded with energy and confidence, winning the tiebreaker 37-25 to secure the victory.

The Trojans’ sweep of both the boys’ and girls’ matches not only highlights the individual performances but also the depth and determination of the team. With contributions from every level, PVHS tennis continues to build momentum as the season progresses.
