Trojans Host Successful Second Cornhole Fundraiser at Petrack Park

The Pahrump Valley High School boys’ soccer team brought the community together on Saturday, October 11, for an evening of friendly competition, laughter, and local support during their second annual Cornhole Tournament Fundraiser at Petrack Park. The event offered something for everyone—refreshments for sale, bounce houses for kids, and plenty of spirited games that kept the park buzzing well into the evening.

Twelve teams squared off in the first cornhole tournament of the night, tossing bags with precision and cheering each other on in the double-elimination bracket. When the final bags landed, it was teammates Ethan Wald and Aaron Sybert who emerged victorious, earning championship rings for their win.

Adding to the fun, players and spectators gathered for the “chicken chucking” contest—a crowd favorite that mixed skill and humor in equal measure. PVHS Quarterback Kayne Horibe claimed victory in the contest, walking away with $32 and plenty of laughs from those watching.

The excitement continued with a separate single-player cornhole tournament, which drew an impressive nearly 25 participants. With a $10 buy-in per player, the competition was fierce, but it was Ethan Wald who once again came out on top, earning $115—half of the pot. In a generous act of team spirit, Wald donated his winnings back to the soccer program.

Guests also had the chance to win handmade cornhole boards through a special raffle. The lucky winners, Jack Whitcotton and Wawny Wald, took home the custom-made sets, marking a perfect end to the evening’s festivities.

By the end of the evening, the event had raised more than $1,500 for the Pahrump Valley High School boys’ soccer team. The funds will go toward equipment, travel costs, and team expenses as the Trojans continue their 2025 season.

The players, coaches, and families expressed their gratitude to everyone who came out to play, cheer, and support the team. With good food, laughter, and a strong sense of community, the night was more than just a fundraiser—it was a celebration of teamwork both on and off the field.
