    Trojans Golf Earns State Berth with Strong Showing at Regionals

    The Pahrump Valley High School boys golf team turned in a strong two-day performance at the NIAA Regional Tournament hosted at Mountain Falls Golf Club on Wednesday, May 6 and Thursday, May 7, earning a third-place team finish and securing a trip to the State Tournament in Boulder City.

    Competing on their home course, the Trojans showcased consistency throughout the regional event, with multiple golfers finishing near the top of the standings against a competitive field.

    Leading the way for Pahrump Valley on day one was Aaron Rily, who posted an opening-round score of 82. Brody Myers followed closely with an 86, while TC Hone carded an 87 and Keir Sheppard finished with an 88. Travis Floyd added an 89 for the Trojans, and Cayden Cowley rounded out the team scores with a 92.

    Rily once again paced the Trojans on day two, improving his overall tournament standing with an 84. Floyd followed with an 85, while Myers continued his steady play with another solid round of 86. Hone finished the second day with an 87, Sheppard shot a 91, and Cowley completed the tournament with a 96.

    When the final scores were tallied, Rily led the Trojans individually, finishing eighth overall with a two-day total of 166. Myers tied for 10th overall with a score of 172, while Hone and Floyd each finished with matching totals of 174 to tie for 12th place. Sheppard placed 15th overall with a score of 179, and Cowley finished 19th with a two-day total of 188.

    As a team, the Trojans earned a third-place finish at the regional tournament, punching their ticket to the State Tournament set for Tuesday, May 12 and Wednesday, May 13 in Boulder City.

    The regional performance capped off another strong showing for the Trojans this season and gives the team an opportunity to compete against the top golfers in the state as they close out the year.
