A new tradition is teeing off in Pahrump, combining warm summer weather with the spirit of giving. On Saturday, July 12, 2025, Something Positive Inc. hosted its inaugural Christmas in July Golf Tournament at Mountain Falls Golf Course, welcoming 110 golfers and dozens of local sponsors in support of the nonprofit’s mission to brighten the holidays for local children.
Founded earlier this year by longtime community advocate Stephanie Avena, Something Positive Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit created to support the annual Positive Pahrump Toy Drive and other charitable efforts in the community. Avena has organized the toy drive for the past 14 years, helping ensure hundreds of local children receive gifts and support each Christmas. The tournament was launched as a new way to raise funds for this expanding mission.

“This event brought together everything I care about—community, generosity, and joy,” said Avena. “It’s humbling to see how many people showed up and supported our very first year.”
That support was abundant. The event raised $20,009.37, all of which will go directly toward Something Positive’s Christmas Toy Drive and Angel Tree program. These initiatives provide toys and holiday gifts to children throughout Pahrump who might otherwise go without.
The tournament’s two $2,500 Tournament Sponsors included Paul Healey & Sons CPA and a combined sponsorship from Simply Divine Nail Salon, Brazzen Livestock Equipment, and Wehrly Springs Soapary. Dolan Ranch generously served as the $1,000 Lunch Sponsor, keeping players energized throughout the day. Additional sponsorship came from three $500 Tee Sponsors – City Electric Supply, Aspen Insulation and Homes by Apollo. Additionally, there were 18 $300 Hole Sponsors, and one additional sponsor contributing $400.

The $300 Hole Sponsors were: Avena & Sons Electric, David Boruchowitz, Hernandez Custom Homes, Republic Services, JJW Detailing, Urban Development & Construction, Industrial Lighting and Power, 3-D Construction, Sassy Rose Beauty Bar, Your Design LLC, State Farm – Brian Strain, Pahrump Valley Community News, HK Homes, Wulfenstein Aggregates, Nevada Homes, Enhanced Aesthetics, Miracle Clean, and Derya.
“The turnout was incredible, but even more inspiring was the purpose behind it all,” Avena said. “Every swing, every donation—it all goes toward making a child’s holiday brighter.”

Something Positive Inc. plans to continue building on the momentum from this successful debut tournament, with additional community events and fundraisers on the horizon. For now, the organization is turning its focus to the upcoming toy drive, preparing to once again serve hundreds of families throughout the valley.
