Pahrump Valley High School golfers Raegan Saldaña and Natalie Soto represented the Trojans in a pair of 3A matches over the past week, competing at Coyote Springs on Thursday, Sept. 10, and Siena Golf Club on Wednesday, Sept. 16.

Saldaña earned a top-five finish during the Sept. 10 match at Coyote Springs in Moapa. She completed the par-72 course with a score of 96, finishing 24 over par and tied for fifth among 22 golfers.

Soto shot a 132 to finish 60 over par and place 15th. The match marked another opportunity for Soto to gain experience during her first season with the Trojans.

Boulder City’s Emmerson Hinds claimed the individual victory with a 3-under-par score of 69. Boulder City also won the team competition with a combined score of 349, followed by Virgin Valley at 418 and Moapa Valley at 520. Pahrump Valley did not record a team score because the Trojans had only two golfers competing.

Saldaña and Soto returned to action six days later at Siena Golf Club, where The Meadows hosted the fifth 3A match of the season.

Saldaña again turned in a score of 96, finishing 24 over par and placing seventh in a field of 25 golfers. Her round left her one stroke behind a tie for fifth place and two strokes outside the top four.

Soto improved by four strokes from the previous match, carding a 128 to finish 56 over par and take 17th place.

The Meadows’ Chloe Sakkab won the individual title with a 1-under-par score of 71. Hinds placed second at 75, while Boulder City’s Morgen Terill was third with a 77.

Boulder City won the team competition for the second consecutive match, finishing with a combined score of 344. Virgin Valley placed second at 406, followed by Moapa Valley at 500. Once again, Pahrump Valley’s two-player lineup did not qualify for a team score.

Across the two matches, Saldaña delivered consistent rounds and placed among the top seven both times, while Soto continued progressing and lowered her score in the Trojans’ most recent outing.
