The Pahrump Valley High School (PVHS) Trojans tennis teams delivered a strong performance on September 24, 2024, as they hosted the Virgin Valley Bulldogs. Both the boys and girls teams showed resilience and skill, securing wins in their respective matches.

For the boys, the Trojans dominated Virgin Valley with a final score of 15-3. Standout players included James DelaRosa who went 3-0, Sonny Skinner who went 3-0, Milan Vasquez who 2- in singles. Jace Eichner and Lucas Johnson went 3-0, Chris Jacks and Legend Reigns went 2-1 and Juan Rodriguez and Bryce Dykstra who also went 2-1 in doubles.. The team’s depth proved crucial in securing the win, as newer players stepped up when it mattered most.

Alexis Staples led the singles matches with a 3-0 record, while Jemi Chavez went 2-1 and Abby Amador went 1-2. In doubles, Cristiana Baang and Layla Brunell as well as Chanel Anthony and Chloe Sitter-Jones worked seamlessly together both going 2-1 and contributing significantly to the overall team win. Head Coach DelaRosa praised the team’s dedication and focus, highlighting the progress they’ve made since the beginning of the season. “Our players continue to show growth every match. The hard work they’re putting in during practice is really starting to pay off,” DelaRosa commented. “We faced a tough opponent in Virgin Valley, but our team remained composed and executed when it counted.”

Adding to the day’s excitement, the seniors were honored in a special ceremony where they received their senior banners. “It was an emotional moment for the team,” Coach DelaRosa said. “These seniors have been the heart and soul of our program for years, and it was wonderful to see them recognized for all their hard work and dedication. Seeing them with their banners was a proud moment for the entire team.”

Both PVHS tennis teams look forward to building on this momentum as they prepare for their next match. With a blend of experienced players and emerging talent, the Trojans continue to be a competitive force in their division this season.

As the season progresses, fans can expect to see more standout performances from the Trojans on the court.
