Pet Supplies Plus officially opened its doors in Pahrump Friday, June 27, bringing a fresh and friendly option for pet lovers in the area.

The new store, located in the Albertson’s shopping center at 70 Highway 160, Suite 105, is independently owned and operated by local business owners Harry and Kamal, and supported by the national Pet Supplies Plus brand.

With more than 730 stores nationwide, the franchise brings extensive resources and competitive pricing while maintaining a strong local identity.

Debbie Mondou, a district manager and corporate consultant for the brand, was on-site for the grand opening to support the launch.

“I’m a consultant for franchise stores like this one. I help owners with daily operations and ensure they have the tools they need to succeed,” Mondou explained. She covers 28 stores across six states, yet emphasized that each location is community-focused.

“This store is independently owned and operated, and the owners here in Pahrump are already part of the local business scene. They’re invested in this town and the people in it.”

One of the highlights of Pet Supplies Plus is its wide selection of products catering to all kinds of animals—dogs, cats, small pets, reptiles, and fish. Shoppers can find food, toys, treats, tank supplies, and accessories to suit every household.

Beyond retail, the store also offers both self-service and full-service grooming options. The self-serve dog wash is priced at $14 per wash, or pet parents can opt for a $40 punch card offering five washes—making it a great deal for frequent bathers.

“We want this store to be as convenient and welcoming as possible,” said Jocelyn Escoto, the store’s general manager. “A lot of our team members are passionate animal lovers.

Many have pets of their own, so working here is something they really enjoy. It’s a fun job for them—getting to help others care for their animals and being around pet products all day. There’s just a good energy here.”

Full-service grooming is also available on-site, with a professional groomer offering everything from basic baths and brush-outs to full haircuts.

And the services don’t stop there—Pet Supplies Plus also plans to offer pet adoptions in the near future. The store is setting up a cat adoption unit in partnership with a local rescue group.

All cats will be spayed or neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated before adoption, ensuring they’re ready for their forever homes.

In addition, the store will host regular community events, which are a signature part of the Pet Supplies Plus brand. “Every month we do nationwide events,” said Mondou. “For Father’s Day, for instance, we had doggy paw prints for dads. In the future, as we build more partnerships with local rescues, we’ll host adoption events for both cats and dogs.”

What sets Pet Supplies Plus apart, especially in a rural market like Pahrump, is its competitive pricing and commitment to service. The store conducts price comparisons with national retailers like Petco and PetSmart, as well as regional competitors like Tractor Supply. And for shoppers who love the convenience of online platforms like Chewy, Pet Supplies Plus offers a price match guarantee. “If someone finds a better price on Chewy, we’ll match it,” Mondou confirmed.

The store’s hours are designed to be convenient for working families and busy pet parents: open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. That means plenty of time to stop in for a quick treat, a bag of food, or a dog bath—even after work.

Escoto, who leads the day-to-day operations, expressed genuine excitement about the store’s debut in the community.

“I’m super excited to be able to work with the community and provide our neighbors with what they need for their animals. To us, animals are family,” she said. “We want to offer options that support different kinds of pets and situations. Whatever works for someone’s animal, we’re here to help.”

A key value that both Escoto and Mondou emphasized is the company’s people-first approach. “We don’t call people customers—we call them neighbors,” said Mondou.

“That’s how we want them to feel when they walk through the door.”

With a passionate team, comprehensive product selection, grooming services, competitive pricing, and a focus on community partnerships, Pet Supplies Plus is poised to become a staple in Pahrump’s pet care scene.
