The Pahrump Valley High School track team continued to show growth and grit at the Faith Lutheran weekday meet held Wednesday, April 9, 2025. Competing against athletes from Faith Lutheran and Liberty High School, the Trojans posted a number of personal bests and strong finishes across both track and field events.
In the boys 100-meter dash, Ben De Santiago led the Trojans with a fifth-place finish, clocking in at 11.79 seconds. Keegan Freeman followed closely with a time of 11.88. Tramaine Burras recorded a personal record (PR) of 12.21, while Wesley Cruff (12.62), Justin Byers (12.70), and Jack Toth (12.95) also notched PRs. Angel Mundo ran a season best of 13.64, and several other Trojans put up solid performances in the sprint-heavy field.




De Santiago continued his strong meet in the 200-meter dash, placing fourth overall in 23.38 seconds. Freeman, Burras, and Dela Rosa all ran competitive times, while Ulisses Alvarez and Justin Byers each achieved new personal records in the event.
The boys 400-meter dash saw De Santiago finish second with a season-best time of 50.48. Eric Figueroa Renteria and James Dela Rosa both recorded PRs, while Tristan Schumacher posted a season best.


In distance events, Antonio Veloz earned a third-place finish in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:15.98. He returned in the 1600-meter to take first overall, running a PR of 4:57.93. Joaquin Flores took second in 4:59.17. The Trojans also swept the top three places in the 3200-meter run, with Josh Gent (11:53.60), Logan Tilley (11:54.73), and Josh Flores (PR 12:13.15) finishing in dominant fashion.


Randy Murray claimed third in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 18.41, and Alvarez raced to a second-place finish in the 300-meter hurdles. In the 4×400-meter relay, the team of Antonio Veloz, Joaquin Flores, Aydon Veloz, and De Santiago claimed first with a time of 3:38.17.
In field events, Hunter Mellinger placed third in the shot put with a 41′ 0.5″ throw, and Sonny Skinner followed with a PR of 35′ 1.5″. Skinner later took first in the discus, launching a throw of 118′ 11″. Aydon Veloz and Tristan Schumacher both cleared 5′ 6″ in the high jump, with Schumacher earning a PR. In the triple jump, Jace Eichner posted a PR of 33′ 0.5″.






On the girls’ side, Rosie Miller led the way in the 100-meter dash with a sixth-place finish and a PR of 13.39. Cindal Monahan and Aliana Zuniga also achieved personal bests, while Stashia Perry notched a season best. In the 200-meter, Natalia Vallin ran a strong 29.70, and Kyndra Cardwell posted a PR of 32.76.






In the 400-meter dash, Payton Weaver placed third overall and hit a PR with 1:03.55. Valery Romero also recorded a PR in 1:08.51. The 800-meter and 1600-meter races showcased the Trojans’ depth in distance events. Jules Ondrisko placed fourth in the 800 with a time of 2:41.07, while Miller and Romero both achieved PRs. Ondrisko also finished second in the 1600-meter run with a season-best 6:15.55, followed by Kaylan Robinson with a PR of 6:24.38.




In the 3200-meter, Alexis Clouser ran to a third-place finish in 14:21.83. The hurdles events saw Sasha Strain take third in the 100m with a season-best of 17.78 and second in the 300m hurdles. Diona Nixon also competed in both hurdle events, while Sydney Crotty rounded out the 300m hurdles field for the Trojans.




The girls 4×400-meter relay team of Ondrisko, Romero, Weaver, and Strain finished strong with a time of 4:39.29.
In field events, Tiler Ledford led the way in shot put with a PR of 25′ 1″ and also threw 64′ 3″ in the discus. Julie Briggs recorded a PR in discus as well. In high jump, Rosie Miller cleared 4′ 4″, and in the long jump, Savannah Thompson leaped 14′ 4″ to place fifth. Melanie Carson set a new PR at 12′.






Thompson also placed fifth in the triple jump with a mark of 29′ 9″, rounding out a successful meet for the PVHS girls.
With numerous personal records, top finishes, and steady improvement across the board, the Pahrump Valley High School track team continues to make strides as the season progresses.
