The Pahrump Valley Mountain Biking Club took to the trails at Spicer Ranch in Beatty for the Spicer Ranch Round Up on March 8, 2025. The event, themed “Rodeo,” provided an exciting challenge for riders as they navigated a course filled with rocky climbs, grass pastures, and smooth singletrack. With sections that wound around ponds, tested endurance with steep uphill climbs, and rewarded riders with fun descents, the course was as scenic as it was demanding. High school riders took on a 3.8-mile course with 450 feet of climbing per lap, while middle school athletes competed on a shorter 2.9-mile course with 250 feet of elevation gain.

Pahrump Valley’s riders tackled the course with determination, showcasing their endurance and skill. In the JV2 Boys category, Shaun Street, Isaac Norton, and Jeremy O’Neal put in strong performances, pushing through the challenging terrain. In JV2 Girls, Taylor Zalaco and Ashlon Stewart demonstrated their strength and consistency on the course. The JV3 Boys category saw Ryan Nasso, Nicholas Stutzman, Wyatt Frausel, and Mason Whitney taking on the demanding track, pacing themselves through the climbs and finding speed on the descents. Sophia Hoffman had a standout race in JV3 Girls, handling the technical elements of the course with confidence.

Middle school riders also gave it their all on the shorter course. Xavier Schwinkendorf had a solid performance in the MS1 Boys category, while Gavin Brown and Edmond kept steady paces throughout the race. In MS2 Boys, Tyler Leavitt, Lucas Silva, Everette, and Everest Leavitt each showed grit as they navigated the course’s mix of terrain.

Beyond the competition, one of the most memorable moments of the race came when Shaun Street was recognized for his outstanding sportsmanship. Voted onto the podium by a majority of teams and volunteers, Shaun’s positive attitude and willingness to help others did not go unnoticed. His recognition served as a reminder that mountain biking is not just about speed and results but also about camaraderie, perseverance, and supporting fellow riders.

The Spicer Ranch Round Up was another exciting event for the Pahrump Valley Mountain Biking Club, giving athletes a chance to test themselves on one of Nevada’s most scenic and challenging courses. With each race, the team continues to gain experience and confidence, looking ahead to future competitions with enthusiasm and determination.
