Pahrump’s youth football scene is entering an exciting new chapter this season with a fresh identity, a new league, and expanded opportunities for athletes and cheerleaders alike. Formerly known as the Pahrump Trojans, the organization has officially rebranded as the Pahrump Battleborn Bandits, a name that reflects both Nevada pride and a renewed energy for youth sports in the valley.
This season, both tackle football teams—grades 3–5 and grades 6–8—have joined the Southern Utah Nevada Youth Football League (SUNYFL), a competitive league based out of Southern Utah. By joining SUNYFL, the Bandits will now compete against more evenly matched teams, helping players grow and develop their skills in a more balanced environment. League games will take place in Mesquite and Moapa, keeping travel within reasonable reach for families.

The younger age divisions will continue their journey in the NYS (Nevada Youth Sports) league out of Las Vegas. The 8U and 6U flag football teams are gearing up for an action-packed season as well, proudly representing Pahrump as the Battleborn Bandits.

The Bandits coaching staff is made up of a dedicated group of volunteers who are committed to guiding and mentoring the young athletes. Coaching the 6–8 grade tackle team are Lloyd Peugh, Walt Smith, and Aaron Lowe, while Gabe Magallanes and Rodney Hernandez lead the 3–5 grade tackle team. The 8U flag team is coached by Tyelar Cuellar and Darik Thunstrom, and Miguel Belman heads up the 6U flag team.
Alongside the football teams, the Bandettes cheerleaders are back in action, bringing spirit and energy to every game. Their support on the sidelines helps foster team pride and creates a positive, uplifting environment for the athletes.
The Bandits’ tackle teams are set to participate in the highly anticipated Jamboree on August 30, which will be held across two venues—the Mesquite Regional Sports and Event Complex and Virgin Valley High School. With over 100 teams from SUNYFL participating, it promises to be a weekend full of camaraderie, competition, and community.
As a nonprofit youth sports program, the organization is always seeking support from the local community. Sponsorships help fund essential needs like uniforms, equipment, and travel costs. One current fundraising effort is a raffle for two firearms, with tickets available for $10 each. As a special offer, those who purchase 10 tickets will receive an 11th ticket free. All proceeds go directly back into the program to benefit the young athletes.
The Pahrump Battleborn Bandits are more than just a name change—they represent a growing movement to support youth, build character, and strengthen community through sport. Whether on the field or the sidelines, the Bandits and Bandettes are ready to make their mark this season.
