Pahrump Valley High School is proud to introduce Dubb Mapp, who is heading into his second year as Assistant Principal. With a deep commitment to education and a personal journey that fuels his dedication, Mr. Mapp brings a fresh perspective and a heartfelt mission to the school.

Reflecting on his path to becoming an educator, Mr. Mapp shared, “I chose to become an educator with the goal of helping students achieve success in school, especially those who, like me, faced challenges.” His own academic struggles and occasional disciplinary issues during his school years were pivotal experiences. “Teachers often spent less time on my development,” he recalled. However, one teacher, Mrs. Marks, saw beyond his behavioral issues and recognized his potential. “She took the time to understand my situation and encouraged me, which sparked my passion for learning and led me to pursue a career in education.”

Mr. Mapp’s mission as a school leader is clear: to inspire teachers to see beyond students’ behavioral challenges and focus on uncovering and nurturing their potential. “I want to be that catalyst for change, helping educators to look deeper and support students just as Mrs. Marks did for me,” he emphasized.

In his role as Assistant Principal, Mr. Mapp is committed to ensuring all students feel valued and supported. His vision for Pahrump Valley High School is one where every student leaves feeling empowered by at least one adult who is dedicated to their future. “My goal is for every student to feel seen and supported. I plan to lead by example, demonstrating dedication and empathy to enhance students’ lives and societal outcomes,” he stated.

Describing a typical day in his role, Mr. Mapp noted, “There are no typical days—only good days and great days.” A good day involves meaningful interactions with students, while a great day allows him to visit classrooms and participate in the learning process. “On exceptional days, I even get to teach a math lesson,” he added.

Engaging with students, parents, and the broader community is a priority for Mr. Mapp. “We excel at engaging during major events like sports, dances, and concerts,” he explained. However, he recognizes the need to improve engagement strategies to include a broader segment of the student body. “We need to create more opportunities for involvement, such as after-school clubs at the school or within the community. Our ultimate goal is to ensure everyone feels included and engaged.”

Outside of his professional life, Mr. Mapp is committed to being a lifelong learner. He is currently learning to fly, a challenging endeavor that has deepened his appreciation for the learning process. “This experience allows me to empathize more with students and understand the difficulties they encounter in today’s educational landscape,” he said. “Learning something new keeps me grounded and fuels my dedication to imparting the gift of learning to others.”

Mr. Mapp takes great satisfaction in assisting individuals within the community. “Please feel free to let me know how I can be of service to you,” he warmly invited.

With his unique background, unwavering commitment, and innovative vision, Mr. Mapp is poised to make a significant impact at Pahrump Valley High School, guiding students toward success and fostering a supportive and inclusive educational environment.
