    Dear Readers,

Welcome to the inaugural edition of the Pahrump Valley Community News! I am Amy Veloz, your editor, and it is with great enthusiasm that I introduce this digital newspaper to our beloved community.

In a world that often seems overwhelmed by negativity, our mission is to shine a light on the positive stories and uplifting events happening right here in Pahrump. Our community is rich with inspiring individuals, vibrant businesses, and exciting events, and it’s time we celebrate them.

The Pahrump Valley Community News will focus on the good news that too often goes unnoticed. We will feature stories about our incredible alumni who are making waves both near and far, highlight the triumphs and hard work of our local sports teams, and showcase the locally-owned businesses that form the backbone of our economy—whether they are new to the area or long-standing fixtures in our town.

Our publication will also bring you engaging features on community events and the remarkable personalities who call Pahrump home. From heartwarming human interest stories to profiles of our unsung heroes, we aim to provide content that leaves you feeling proud and connected to our community.

On a personal note, I have been blessed to call Pahrump home for quite sometime. I moved to Pahrump my Junior year of high school in 1999 where I met my husband of 19 years, Ben Veloz, who has lived in Pahrump nearly his entire life. After attending the University of Nevada, Reno together we have been back in Pahrump since 2005. Ben is a dedicated 8th grade Science teacher at Rosemary Clarke Middle School (RCMS). We are the proud parents of three wonderful children: Analise and Antonio, our 17-year-old twins who are seniors at Pahrump Valley High School (PVHS), and Isaiah, our 13-year-old 8th grader at RCMS. Our family’s roots run deep in this community, and it’s our honor to share in the stories that make Pahrump special.

We are excited to bring you these stories and more, but we need your help! If you have story ideas, content to publish, or if you are an alumnus interested in being interviewed, please reach out to us at amy@pvc.news. Your input and contributions are what will make this publication truly reflective of our vibrant community.

I promise to do my very best to bring you a multitude of stories across the categories each week. Please understand, that as things in the community ebb and flow, so may the number of stories for each section. However, with your help, I am confident we can share a number of stories each week that the community will enjoy.

Thank you for joining us on this journey to highlight the best of Pahrump. Together, we can create a space that celebrates the spirit, resilience, and kindness of our town. Your stories, your successes, and your dreams are what make Pahrump special, and we are honored to share them.

    Warmest regards,

    Amy Veloz
