The Independent American Party of Nye County will host its annual county convention on Saturday, January 10, 2026, welcoming community members from across the political spectrum for a morning of discussion and civic engagement.
The convention will be held at Our Place, located at 1401 S Hwy 160, beginning at 10 a.m. and continuing until approximately 2 p.m. Attendance is free, and organizers emphasize that no one is excluded. While the event is hosted by the Independent American Party of Nye County, which is affiliated with the Constitution Party, all political parties and members of the public are encouraged to attend.
According to Vice Chair Anthony Greco, the first hour of the convention—from 10 to 11 a.m.—is fully open to everyone, regardless of party affiliation. About 30 people are expected to attend. After the open session, the convention will continue with party-specific business.
The meeting will include remarks from Janine Hansen, the party’s state chair. Hansen is expected to discuss the party’s nomination process, which differs from the traditional primary system. Instead of holding primaries, the party selects nominees through conventions before candidates advance to the general election.
Greco also shared that the Independent American Party will hold its state convention in February in Tonopah, where additional nominations and statewide party matters will be addressed.
During the local convention, Greco plans to speak about his intention to run against Ron Boskovich. He emphasized that his decision is not based on dissatisfaction with Boskovich’s performance, but rather on a belief that he would approach the role differently.
Community members interested in learning more about alternative party structures, nomination processes, or local political involvement are encouraged to attend the opening hour of the January 10, 2026 convention.
