Desert View Hospital Launches Scholarship Program to Support Local Students and Adults

Desert View Hospital is giving local residents a helping hand toward achieving their educational dreams with the launch of a new scholarship program. Announced earlier this month, the initiative will distribute $5,000 in scholarships to high school seniors and adults seeking higher education, emphasizing the hospital’s ongoing commitment to community investment.

“This program is about more than just financial assistance,” said Susan Davila, CEO of Desert View Hospital. “It’s about empowering people in our community to pursue their goals and, in doing so, improve the well-being of the community as a whole.”

The program offers a total of six scholarships: four awards of $500 each, one award of $1,000, and one grand scholarship of $2,000. Applicants must reside in one of the following zip codes: 89041, 89048, 89060, 89061, 89020, 89003, 89049, 92384, or 92389.

Both graduating high school students and adults are eligible to apply, provided they submit proof of acceptance or enrollment at an accredited institution. Qualifying schools include colleges, universities, trade schools, community colleges, technical, and vocational schools. While applicants do not need to be pursuing a healthcare-related education, preference will be given to those who are.

Scholarship recipients will be selected through a scoring system that weighs an applicant’s essay (up to 40 points), community service (up to 20 points), and letters of recommendation (up to 20 points). Additional points will be awarded to those entering the healthcare field.

“Investing in education is investing in our community’s future,” said Davila.

Applications must be submitted no later than May 12, 2025. Interested individuals are encouraged to begin the application process soon to ensure they meet the deadline.
