Pahrump Valley residents looking to further their education will once again have local support, as Desert View Hospital has announced the return of its scholarship program for a second year.

Building on the success of its inaugural effort, the hospital will award a total of six scholarships in 2026, providing $5,000 in funding to students and adult learners in the community. The scholarships include four awards of $500, one $1,000 award and one $2,000 award.

The program is open to both graduating high school seniors and adults pursuing higher education. Applicants must reside in one of several designated zip codes, including 89041, 89048, 89060, 89061, 89020, 89003, 89049, 92384 or 92389, and must provide proof of acceptance or enrollment in a qualifying institution. Eligible schools include colleges, universities, community colleges, trade schools, technical schools and vocational programs.

While the scholarship is open to students pursuing any field of study, preference will be given to those entering healthcare-related programs, reinforcing the hospital’s commitment to strengthening the local healthcare workforce.

Applications will be reviewed using a comprehensive scoring system. Essay responses carry the most weight, accounting for up to 40 points, while community service and letters of recommendation can each contribute up to 20 points. Additional consideration will be given to applicants pursuing healthcare education.

Desert View Hospital CEO Susan Davila emphasized the broader impact of the program on the community.

“Education opens doors not just for individuals, but for entire communities,” Davila said. “By continuing this scholarship program, we are proud to support local residents in pursuing their ambitions and building a stronger, healthier future for Pahrump.”

The deadline to apply is April 30, 2026. Interested applicants are encouraged to begin preparing materials early and can submit their applications online at desertviewhospital.com/scholarship-application.

Desert View Hospital, a critical access hospital serving Pahrump since 2016, offers a wide range of services including emergency care, physical therapy, wound care, radiology, surgery, a 24-hour laboratory and cardiopulmonary care. Through initiatives like this scholarship program, the hospital continues to invest not only in healthcare services, but in the long-term success of the community it serves.
