Over the course of two weeks, Bella Salon brought together food donations, personal items, and monetary contributions that were converted into food purchases, resulting in a combined total of 1,150.6 pounds of support for VFW Post 10054, located at 4651 Homestead Rd, during the salon’s second annual food drive.
The drive ran from December 5 through December 19, with everything delivered in the afternoon of the 19th. The donation filled the food bank at the VFW, providing much-needed support for local veterans. This year’s total more than doubled last year’s collection, which came in at around 450 pounds.

Most of the donations came directly from Bella Salon clients, with additional contributions made by family members, friends, and colleagues of the salon’s team. The strong turnout reflected both the generosity of the community and the growing support for the annual effort.
Jill Fishler, who runs the food bank at the VFW, expressed her gratitude for the overwhelming response. “I can only say that the Bella Salon team and their clients were very generous with their donations to the VFW food bank. Our shelves are stocked for the holidays and for the days ahead. On behalf of the veterans who depend on our services, I am thanking Bella Salon for their successful food drive and for caring for the veterans in our community,” Fishler said.
While the food bank is now well stocked, the VFW remains in need of several personal care and household items. These include adult diapers, soap and shower gel, disposable razors, and cleaning products, which are continually needed to support veterans who rely on the food bank.
The success of the drive highlights how a local business and its customers can come together to make a meaningful difference, ensuring that veterans in the community are supported not just during the holidays, but throughout the year.
