The community is invited to gather in remembrance and gratitude during the annual Purple Heart Day Ceremony on Friday, Aug. 7, honoring the men and women who were wounded or gave their lives in military service.
The ceremony will take place from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Pahrump Veterans Memorial, located at 751 East Street in Pahrump. The event is open to the public, and organizers encourage everyone in the community to attend as they recognize the sacrifice and service of Purple Heart recipients.
Purple Heart Day is observed each year to pay tribute to those who have been wounded or killed while serving in the United States Armed Forces. The Purple Heart Medal, one of the nation’s oldest military decorations, is awarded in the name of the President to service members who are wounded or killed in action against an enemy of the United States.
The annual ceremony provides an opportunity for veterans, military families and community members to come together in a spirit of reflection, honoring those whose courage came at great personal cost. The event also serves as a reminder of the sacrifices made by members of the Armed Forces throughout the nation’s history.
Community members of all ages are welcome to attend and help recognize the bravery and dedication of Purple Heart recipients while showing support for local veterans and their families.
