The Rosemary Clarke Middle School Sharks cross country team had a great day on September 6th at Sunset Park, which was the second race of their season. The race was a quick one, being only 1.3 miles. The day was already warm by the time of the middle school races, which took place at 10:25 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. Despite the heat, multiple runners on both the boys’ and girls’ teams set new personal records among a field of 221 male finishers and 196 female finishers from 23 different middle schools. The Rosemary Clarke Middle School football team enjoyed a special night on the field as they hosted their first-ever “Under the Lights” game, a fundraiser that brought more than 100 members of the community together and raised just over $1,600 for the Sharks program. Typically, playing under stadium lights is an experience reserved for athletes once they reach high school, but on this night, the Sharks had their chance to shine. For the seventh year in a row, 75-year-old Pahrump resident Karen Dallatore is pedaling with purpose. She is once again participating in the nationwide Great Cycle Challenge, a month-long effort where riders across the country log miles throughout September to raise funds for the Children’s Cancer Research Fund. “This is not a race—it’s a challenge,” Karen explained. “Anybody can sign up, set a personal mileage goal, and fundraise to support research.
