Art from the Heart by Ashley – Bringing Creativity to Life in Pahrump

Ashley Welch’s journey into the world of arts and crafts started as an unplanned venture. Growing up in a creative household, with her mother and stepfather deeply involved in artistic endeavors, she was surrounded by inspiration. “My mom was very artistic, and my stepdad was a paint contractor. I grew up around color and painting, watching my mom create murals in our house,” Ashley recalls.

Ashley’s mother, who passed away in 2015, was her best friend and an incredibly creative individual. She had the unique talent to transform a piece of trash into something beautiful, and she believes she inherited her creativity from her mom. Her mom’s sister, Ashley’s Aunt Tammy, shared the same artistic flair; “they were only 18 months apart and grew up like twins,” Ashley recalls. “Whenever we spent time together, it was filled with arts and crafts, creating little ornaments and other projects. My mom and aunt frequently participated in craft shows, which left a lasting impression on me. Now, as I continue in their footsteps, it feels like creativity is in my blood, making it a natural part of who I am.”

The accidental beginning of her business 10 years ago, Art from the Heart by Ashley, was a natural progression of her lifelong passion for creativity. “I started by making things for friends without charging, but as word spread, people began offering to pay me for my work. It was when my son Michael got sick that I used art as an outlet, which eventually evolved into a full-fledged business.”

Specializing in redoing furniture and cabinetry, Ashley brings new life to homes without the hefty price tag of full renovations. “I repaint and remodel cabinets in people’s homes, providing a fresh look without the expense of new cabinetry,” she explains. This unique service forms the backbone of her business.

Ashley also offers a range of artistic creations, from hand-burned and hand-painted hats to custom home décor signs. Her hats, particularly, have become a huge hit. “I started with hand-burned cowgirl hats and fedoras, and then moved on to trucker hats. Each type appeals to different markets, but both have been very popular.”

Beyond her artistic creations, Ashley also conducts art classes, which have become a significant part of her business. “People love the classes because they are fun and different each time. It keeps them coming back for more,” she notes.

Ashley’s talent extends to mural painting, both in businesses and private homes. She has created stunning murals for local businesses like Sherry Cipollini’s office (Enhanced Aesthetics and Wellness) and Honey&Sage, as well as private residences. “Murals are my favorite thing to do. People often come to me with their vision, and I bring it to life,” she shares.

Early in her art career, Ashley hadn’t participated in any craft shows. She first met one of her biggest motivators for getting involved in shows, Tamara Trudeau during a 5K event at Saitta Trudeau for Ashley’s son Michael when he was sick. Over the years, they became friends, and one day Tamara recommended that Ashley join a show and offered to introduce her to the show organizer. Initially hesitant, Ashley quickly agreed. “I didn’t need much convincing,” she recalls with a laugh. Tamara has been instrumental in introducing Ashley to the world of craft shows and encouraging her to participate. Her support and friendship have been pivotal in Ashley’s journey, and she has eagerly joined Tamara in various events ever since.

Similarly, Carrie Nye, another key figure in Ashley’s life, has played a crucial role. Carrie, who owns Desert Roots, is Ashley’s best friend and frequent collaborator. Together, they brainstorm ideas, share customers, and support each other’s ventures, creating a dynamic and supportive community. These relationships have not only enriched Ashley’s personal life but also greatly contributed to the success and growth of Art from the Heart by Ashley.

The personal touch and dedication Ashley brings to her work have made Art from the Heart by Ashley a beloved fixture in Pahrump. Her business is not just about creating art; it’s about bringing joy and transformation to the community through her unique talents.
