Art for Recovery Fundraiser – A Lifeline for Those in Need

Living Free Health and Fitness is set to host its third annual Art for Recovery fundraiser, a crucial event that helps sustain its mission of providing comprehensive addiction recovery services. This charity dinner and auction will feature artwork donated by local artists from the Arts Collective of Nye County, as well as contributions from private donors and members of the community. In addition to the artwork, attendees can bid on exclusive items, such as themed gift baskets, and high quality items appealing to a broad audience.

The event will be held on March 8th at the Pahrump Nugget Hotel & Casino at 5 p.m. The price for the dinner and auction is $75 per person or $700 for a table of eight, which includes premium table placement near the stage, and identification as a table sponsor on the table and in promotional materials. Event sponsorships are also available at three levels: Platinum ($1,000), Gold ($500), and Silver ($375).

While the fundraiser promises an enjoyable evening, its deeper purpose is what makes it truly special. Proceeds will be used to cover critical shortfalls in funding for treatment, housing, and wraparound services. Medicaid often fails to cover part or all of a person’s treatment at Living Free, leaving a gap that must be filled by generous donors. The event will also feature testimonies from current and former clients, illustrating the life-changing impact of Living Free’s programs.

How Your Financial Support is Utilized:

Treatment: Medicaid often fails to pay for part or all of a person’s treatment at Living Free Health. With 95% of clients relying on Medicaid, gaps in coverage mean that some patients may not receive the full scope of treatment they need. Living Free Health helps bridge that gap by offering heavily discounted and pro-bono treatment services, ensuring that those in need can continue their recovery journey without financial barriers.

Housing: In 2024, Living Free Health expanded its housing capacity to 28 adult patient beds, accommodating men, women, and pregnant women/women with children. However, housing grants do not always cover the full demand, and last year, funding fell short by 563 client days. The support from donors ensures that no individual is left without a safe and stable place to stay during their recovery.

    Wraparound Services:

    • Basic Necessities: Clients receive “get started” kits, which include food, clothing, hygiene products, and other dignity basics to help them begin their recovery with stability and self-respect.
    • Health and Wellness: Free gym memberships and fitness training are provided to support physical health, which plays a crucial role in addiction recovery.
    • Education and Support: All clients have access to a smoking cessation class to promote healthier lifestyles.
    • Women & Children’s Support: Nutrition class, infant care class, parenting class, Mommy & Me yoga, and Mommy & Me activity class. These classes create a supportive and therapeutic environment for both mothers and their kids.
    • Transportation: Staff is frequently required to transport clients for medical and dental appointments, job interviews, and legal or criminal justice-related obligations to ensure clients can meet essential life responsibilities without setbacks.

    Community Support:

    • 12-Step Meetings: A dedicated office suite is available for 12-step meetings run by local Pahrump recovery members, giving clients access to ongoing peer support.
    • Clinical Training: Living Free Health provides graduate and undergraduate practicum supervision to help grow the number of clinical professionals serving rural and frontier Nevada.
    • Expanded Gym Access: Free and discounted gym memberships are extended to addiction and mental health clients in other Pahrump treatment and housing programs, promoting physical wellness as a key component of recovery.

Through the generosity of attendees and donors, the Art for Recovery fundraiser continues to be a vital source of funding that allows Living Free Health to provide these critical services. Every dollar raised helps change lives, ensuring that no one is turned away from the support they need to recover and rebuild.
