The Pahrump Valley High School girls’ volleyball teams delivered strong performances on Monday, October 14, against Sloan Canyon, with Varsity staying in the playoff hunt by sweeping their match.

In the B Team match, PVHS narrowly fell 2-1, with scores of 27-25, 21-25, and 15-13. April Ivy and Claudia Lopez led the team with 3 kills each. Miani Freitas-Faamai shined with 5 serving aces and 17 perfect serve receptions, while Cloe Cable contributed 18 successful sets to fuel the team’s offense.

In the Varsity matchup, PVHS secured a critical 3-0 victory, posting scores of 25-17, 25-23, and 26-24. Xeane Kamanu led with 6 aces, while Heavenly Ware dominated at the net with 5 solo blocks. Belen Ramirez anchored the defense with 6 digs. Ware’s exceptional all-around effort earned her Player of the Game honors.

The win was essential for the Trojans’ postseason aspirations, with two more wins needed to clinch a playoff spot. Head Coach Veronica Montanez was full of praise for her team.

“The girls showed a lot of heart tonight,” Montanez said. “It was an elimination game—if we lost, there was no way to make playoffs. They showed heart, tenacity… they played so well today. I’m so proud of them!”

With momentum on their side, the Varsity squad looks to build on this win and secure the final victories needed to advance into the playoffs.
