Community Generosity Shines at Green Life’s Thanksgiving Turkey Giveaway

Families lined up early Saturday morning at the Locals Only Market on Hawkins Way, where Green Life hosted its first-ever Thanksgiving turkey and produce giveaway—an effort designed to support low-income households in Pahrump during the holiday season. The event, held November 22, was powered by the generosity of G&C Flooring Pros, Green Life Productions, and Green Life Produce, whose combined commitment made it possible for families to leave with a turkey and fresh farm-grown items for their holiday table.

Green Life co-owner Steve Cantwell was on hand at the farm, greeting visitors with gratitude and pride for what the team accomplished. “Today we’re here at the farm at Green Life Produce doing a Thanksgiving giveaway—turkeys and some produce,” he said. “Thanks to our sponsors, G&C Flooring Pros, Green Life Productions, Green Life Produce… we’re just thankful to make this happen.”

Although the Green Life brand is well known for its fresh, locally grown produce and trusted reputation within the community, this marked their first year organizing a turkey giveaway. Cantwell explained that the idea came from his wife, whose passion for helping others sparked the project. “She’s always trying to find a way to help people out and give back to the community,” he shared. “This is just one of the many interesting things she’s found. We’re experimenting with it for the first time, but it’s been pretty successful—we had a line this morning at like eight o’clock.”

A key factor in that success was the strong showing of volunteers who stepped in to assist. Dozens of volunteers donated their time to unload, prepare produce bags, and distribute food—including several athletes from the Pahrump Valley High School basketball team, who helped carry boxes, direct the line, and keep the event running smoothly. Their presence added energy and teamwork to a morning centered on service and support.

The turkeys themselves were purchased from local grocery stores using funds provided by the event’s sponsors. “Everything stayed here in town,” Cantwell said. “Just feeding the community.”

Green Life has become a familiar and trusted name in Pahrump. Their farm has been running for about four years, and Cantwell is now in his second year operating the produce store. Located off Thousandaire on Hawkins Road, the shop is open year-round—offering homegrown vegetables and other local goods. “We’re here selling produce locally grown,” he said proudly.

Cantwell’s roots in the valley run deep. He grew up in Pahrump, attending Mount Charleston Elementary before moving on through middle school and high school. Building a business that strengthens the community he grew up in has become a meaningful part of his life.

As families picked up their turkeys and produce baskets, the spirit of gratitude was unmistakable. What began as an idea quickly turned into an uplifting community effort, powered by local businesses with a heart for giving. Cantwell expressed appreciation for everyone who played a role in making the day special.

“Thank you,” he said as the event wrapped up, still smiling from the steady stream of families helped throughout the morning.

Green Life’s first turkey giveaway was not only a success—it served as a reminder of the kindness and generosity that continues to thrive in the Pahrump community.
