The Pahrump Valley High School Lady Trojans volleyball team faced a determined Virgin Valley Bulldogs squad at home on Monday, September 29, putting up a spirited fight across three sets filled with long rallies, strong serves, and aggressive play at the net. Despite the 3-0 loss, the Trojans showed hustle and teamwork throughout the evening, keeping the crowd engaged with their energy and effort.

The first set began evenly as both teams traded serves, with Heavenly Ware getting the Trojans on the board and Sedona Norton adding momentum with a serving ace that tightened the score to 4-6. Xe’ane Kamanu and Miani Freitas-Faamai worked together on several front-line plays, including blocks and spikes that kept the set competitive. Nala Dalton’s serves also helped close the gap midway through the set, while Madison Rodriguez added pressure with steady serving and Ware found success tipping the ball into the back corner to bring the Trojans within two points. Virgin Valley, however, managed to regain control late in the set, taking it 25-19.

In the second set, the Lady Trojans found themselves battling back early after Virgin Valley jumped to a quick lead. Marayah Waller’s timely tip broke the streak and Ware followed with a strong service run to help shift momentum. Norton added another ace, and Kamanu delivered several hard spikes to keep the Trojans within striking distance. Myah Krolczyk made an impact with consistent serving, while Waller came up big again with a block at the net. Henna Maiava and Ware both added points off Bulldog errors, but Virgin Valley’s powerful serves and net presence proved too much as the Trojans dropped the second set 25-15.

The third set saw the Trojans fighting to extend the match. Dalton opened with serves, followed by Ware and Kamanu pushing back with a mix of tips and spikes. Despite early struggles returning serves, the team stayed focused and continued to challenge every point. Krolczyk again came through from the service line, while Riley Saldaña contributed a deep spike to keep the set alive. Fresh faces like Amaliah Mendoza and Nala Dalton gave the Trojans an energy boost late in the set, closing the gap with smart plays and clean serves. Virgin Valley ultimately sealed the set 25-14, but the Trojans’ persistence and teamwork never wavered.

Although the Lady Trojans couldn’t secure the win, their resilience, communication, and ability to recover from tough plays showed continued growth. With strong efforts from veterans like Ware, Kamanu, and Norton, and steady performances from up-and-coming players, the Trojans remain focused on building momentum for the remainder of the season.
