Laughter, school spirit, and a healthy dose of competitive energy filled the gymnasium at Pahrump Valley High School on Tuesday, May 13, as staff members took to the court to face off against students in a volleyball match that doubled as a fundraiser for the Yearbook class.

With roughly 90 spectators in the stands cheering from both sides, the event generated $105 to support the Yearbook program—a lighthearted and spirited way to cap off the school year while raising funds for a good cause. The crowd enjoyed watching familiar faces outside their usual classroom roles, as teachers and staff brought their best game-day energy to the court.

The staff team included Amanda Cardinal, Kathryn Walden, Kaylee Hargis, Dawn Mobley, Janice Correa, Arlette Newvine, Aubrey Davis, Michelle Clark, Adriana Ancell, Mrs. Montanez, Mrs. Ivy, and Mrs. Bailey. Though many came prepared with humor and hustle, they were met with a formidable student team packed with varsity volleyball talent, including Marayah Waller, Heavenly Ware, Belen Ramirez, Bryn Mazlo, Xeane Kamanu, Myah Krolczyk, Nala Dalton, and Sedona Norton. The match was officiated by Tricia Martin, who kept the friendly competition flowing smoothly across all three games.

Despite the staff’s best efforts—and some impressive volleys—the students ultimately swept the series, securing victory and bragging rights. The games were filled with playful moments and big plays, with the students’ cohesive teamwork and powerful hits proving too much for their opponents.

While the scoreboard may have favored the students, the real winners were the Yearbook students and everyone in attendance who got to enjoy an afternoon of school spirit and shared laughter. The event served as a reminder of the close-knit community at PVHS and the importance of coming together—whether it’s for a volleyball match, a fundraiser, or simply some end-of-year fun.
