Before stepping onto the mat for their final home meet of the season, Pahrump Valley High School Wrestling took a moment to honor its Senior wrestlers. The team recognized Emma Flores (manager) and wrestlers Payton Weaver, Amelia Graziano, McKenna King, Tiler Ledford, Jemima “Jemi” Chavez, Anthony Hunt, Bishop Carter, Dane Clayton, Oscar Bosket, and Randy Murray for their dedication and commitment to the program. The seniors received cheers from the crowd, celebrating their hard work and leadership throughout their time with PVHS Wrestling.

The Trojans then capped off the night with a commanding 69-9 victory over Mater Academy East on Monday, January 27, in front of their home crowd. With the visiting team lacking a junior varsity squad, the night focused entirely on varsity competition, and the Trojans made the most of the opportunity.

Several wrestlers secured victories by pin, including Joey Scheer (113), Joaquin Flores (126), Bishop Carter (132), Ben De Santiago (138), Jayden Crisler (144), and Oscar Bosket (190). Paul Walker (165) showcased his determination, winning by points, while Ethan Rouse (106), Dominic Chiancone (120), Austin Alvarez (157), Iyan Bosket (175), and Billy Sparks (215) all picked up forfeit wins. Ryan Hamlin (150) fought hard but lost by pin, and Julio Ackerman (heavyweight) came up just short in a decision loss.

Head Coach Frank Lopez was proud of his team’s performance on Senior Night, emphasizing the significance of competing under the home spotlight.

“We finished up our league dual schedule with senior night at home. Home duals under the spotlight are always a great time for our program and community. Boys wrestled hard and finished the league dual season off with a good win,” Lopez said.

With the regular season now behind them, the Trojans set their sights on Regionals and State, where they look to carry this momentum forward.

“We seem to be peaking as a program. Boys are showing up every day and working hard. That’s all we ask—really, that’s all the sport asks. Myself and the coaching staff have a very optimistic outlook on the end of the season. Our focus this week will be preparing our boys to qualify for state,” Lopez added.

With their dedication and hard work paying off, PVHS Wrestling is poised to make a strong statement in the postseason. The community will be watching and cheering as the Trojans battle for a chance at state championship glory.
