The Pahrump Valley High School girls’ soccer team controlled possession for much of its home match against The Meadows on Monday, Sept. 28, generating repeated scoring opportunities before finishing with a narrow 1-0 loss.
The Mustangs scored the match’s only goal in the first half. Pahrump put 13 shots on goal and recorded five additional attempts that missed the target, but the Trojans were unable to convert those chances into an equalizer.
Head Coach Amy Carlson said the Trojans controlled the ball for most of the match, with finishing opportunities proving to be the difference in the outcome.
“Controlled the ball for the most part, just couldn’t capitalize on any of the opportunities,” Carlson said.

Pahrump’s 13 shots on goal reflected the pressure the Trojans placed on The Meadows’ defense. Those on-target attempts required a stop by a goalkeeper or defender to prevent a goal, while the team’s five other shots added to its offensive opportunities.
The Trojans also recorded nine steals, helping regain possession and limit the Mustangs’ attack. The Meadows finished with five shots on goal, with Pahrump making four saves to keep the margin at one.
Although Pahrump could not find the tying goal, its ability to maintain possession and create chances provided positives to carry into its next match. Turning those opportunities into goals will be a focus as the Trojans continue their season.
