The Pahrump Valley Little League Major Division playoffs continued Tuesday, May 12, with the Storm and Reds battling through an action-packed game filled with timely hitting, aggressive baserunning and momentum swings throughout all five innings. In the end, the Storm used a strong middle stretch and balanced offense to secure a 16-10 victory over the Reds.

The Reds wasted little time getting on the board in the top of the first inning against Storm pitcher Oliver T. Nicholas J opened the game with a double before Liam O followed with a single to put runners on the corners. An error allowed Nicholas J to score, and Liam O later crossed the plate during a walk to Carter L, giving the Reds an early 2-0 lead. Oliver T settled in afterward, striking out multiple batters to limit further damage.

The Storm answered immediately in the bottom half against Reds starter Liam O. Fowles C drew a leadoff walk before Oliver T was hit by a pitch. Greyson S delivered a key RBI double to put the Storm on the board, and the offense continued to apply pressure with patient at-bats and aggressive baserunning.

Fernando M and Tucker H both reached base during the rally, while Sebastian G was hit by a pitch to force in another run. Lyla R added a two-run single later in the inning, helping the Storm surge ahead 6-2 after one inning. Nicholas J came in to pitch during the frame and recorded two strikeouts to help stop the rally.

The Reds responded again in the second inning. Greyson F led off with a triple to center field and later scored on a passed ball to trim the deficit to 6-3. Nicholas J added another hit later in the inning, but the Storm defense came through with a key pickoff at third base by Fernando M to end the threat.

Defensively, the Storm settled down in the bottom of the second. Greyson S collected another double during the inning, but Reds pitcher Nicholas J worked through traffic and stranded the runner with help from his defense, including a groundout fielded by Liam O at second base.

The third inning brought another momentum swing. The Reds strung together several extra-base hits to reclaim the lead. Liam O opened with a double, followed by an RBI double from Joseph S. Carter L added an RBI single, and Maverick B drove in another run on a groundout.

Sebastian H continued the pressure with a walk and later scored, while Kaiden M added an RBI single to cap a five-run inning that pushed the Reds ahead 8-6.

The Storm answered once more in the bottom of the third. Tucker H reached on a single, Sebastian G was hit by a pitch, and Lyla R delivered another clutch hit with a two-run single to tie the game at 8-8. Later in the inning, Fowles C came through with a two-run double that gave the Storm a 10-8 advantage heading into the fourth.

The back-and-forth battle continued in the fourth. The Reds cut the deficit to one run when Joseph S lined an RBI single to right field, scoring Nicholas J and making it 10-9.

In the bottom half, however, the Storm pieced together another big inning. Carter L took over on the mound for the Reds before Manuel V later entered in relief. Fernando M and Tucker H both reached base, Sebastian G drew a walk, and Troy T earned an RBI walk to extend the lead.

Lyla R continued her standout performance with another RBI single, while Chassl K added an RBI single of his own later in the inning. The Storm also capitalized on patient at-bats and baserunners to build the advantage to 16-9 entering the fifth.

Despite the deficit, the Reds continued to battle in their final at-bat. Sebastian H singled and later scored on an RBI ground ball from Greyson F to make it 16-10. Kaiden M followed with a walk to keep the inning alive, but the Storm defense held firm to close out the playoff victory.

Both teams produced strong offensive performances throughout the game. The Reds collected 12 hits, led by Nicholas J with three hits and two runs scored, while Liam O and Joseph S each added two hits. Greyson F also contributed with a triple and two runs scored.

For the Storm, Lyla R had a standout game at the plate with three hits and five RBIs. Greyson S added two doubles and two RBIs, while Tucker H scored three runs. Fowles C contributed a key two-run double and also pitched in relief to help secure the win.
