Saitta Trudeau: Pahrump’s Hometown Dealership Driving Excellence and Community Connection

Saitta Trudeau has been a cornerstone of the Pahrump community for over two decades, embodying the values of resilience, growth, and dedication to customer satisfaction. Its managing partner, Don Trudeau, has played a vital role in steering the dealership through challenging times while building a reputation for service and commitment.

The dealership’s roots trace back to 2000 when Rick Peet first opened its doors. Rick, a Chrysler dealer from Las Cruces, New Mexico, had taken advantage of an opportunity provided by Chrysler’s Project 2000 initiative. This initiative aimed to consolidate Chrysler and Jeep dealerships under one roof. Rick’s ingenuity and persistence brought the dealership to life, overcoming challenges like capitalization requirements by creatively leveraging resources, including partnerships with local Las Vegas dealers. Rick became a well-respected dealer in Pahrump, known for his dedication to the community and customer satisfaction. However, after the economic downturn following 9/11, Rick decided to sell, creating an opening for Don and his business partner, Tom Saitta.

Don, who had been working as a general manager for Tom’s dealership in Las Vegas, seized the opportunity. A casual conversation with Rick at a Chrysler meeting led to negotiations, and by March 2002, Don and Tom officially took ownership of the dealership, renaming it Saitta Trudeau. For Don, the move to Pahrump was not just a professional leap but a personal journey. The town lacked the infrastructure typical of urban car dealerships, yet Don saw its potential and embraced the close-knit community. His wife, Tamara, initially somewhat hesitant, but quickly developed deep ties and friendships in the area, reflecting the warmth and camaraderie of the town.

Under Don’s leadership, Saitta Trudeau expanded beyond its original location. The dealership acquired additional lots to showcase used cars, a paint and auto body location by Home Depot and even ventured into RV sales to meet local demand. Although RVs were not Don’s passion, his willingness to diversify underscored his commitment to serving Pahrump’s needs. Over time, Don’s expertise in the automotive industry became evident as he watched the quality of vehicles improve. “Cars today are built to a level of quality that is unmatched,” he explains. “When I started in the business, new cars often had several issues. Now, it’s rare to find even minor problems.”

Saitta Trudeau is not just about selling cars—it’s about fulfilling customer dreams. While the dealership primarily offers new Chrysler, Jeep, and Dodge and RAM vehicles, Don and his team go the extra mile to source pre-owned cars of any make or model. Whether a customer wants a Toyota RAV4 or a Honda CR-V, the dealership leverages regional and national auctions to find the perfect match. Don emphasizes a personalized approach, starting with an in-depth understanding of what customers need and want. The dealership’s robust process ensures satisfaction, even offering the option to return vehicles to auctions if they don’t meet expectations.

Don’s son, Dominic, recently took over the service department. Dominic’s goal is to ensure the service department at Saitta Trudeau is another hallmark of its customer-first philosophy. From routine maintenance like oil changes and tire rotations to complex repairs, the team is equipped to handle a variety of needs. Don highlights the importance of empathy in this line of work, acknowledging the stress customers often feel when dealing with vehicle issues. “Transportation is essential, especially in a town like Pahrump. When something goes wrong, it can disrupt someone’s entire life. We strive to alleviate that stress.”

The success of Saitta Trudeau is deeply tied to its dedicated team, many of whom have been with the dealership for over a decade. eneral Manager Jesse has been part of the business for two decades, while other key team members, like parts manager Chuck , office manager/ controller Valerie, new car manager Jason, and finance manager Ben have all been with the company more that ten years, They along with many other team members bring years of experience and loyalty. This stability allows the dealership to provide consistent, reliable service, which is especially important in a small-town setting where word of mouth carries significant weight.  All Saitta Trudeau team members live in and are part of the Pahrump community.

One of the defining relationships in Don’s career was his partnership with the late Tom Saitta. Tom, a former musician and successful car dealer, brought a unique perspective to the business. Known for his generosity and big-heartedness, Tom left a lasting impact on everyone he worked with. Don recalls one of Tom’s most remarkable acts of kindness, when he borrowed $100,000 to help a former bandmate pay for life-saving surgery. This was long before Tom had amassed significant wealth, showcasing his deep commitment to helping others. “Tom was one of a kind,” Don reflects. “He had a huge heart and was always willing to step up for people in need.”

Even after Tom’s passing three years ago, his influence remains strong. His wife, Alice, continues to hold her partnership stake in the dealership but allows Don to manage it autonomously. Don appreciates her trust, noting that she rarely intervenes in day-to-day operations, a testament to the confidence she has in his leadership.

Navigating the challenges of the automotive industry has been no small feat, but Don remains optimistic. The past year brought economic difficulties, with rising interest rates and inflation squeezing consumers. Despite these obstacles, Don sees signs of recovery. Loan approval rates are improving, and vehicle prices are stabilizing. He believes the dealership is poised for an upward trajectory, buoyed by its commitment to quality and customer satisfaction.

As Saitta Trudeau moves forward, Don remains focused on innovation and community engagement. Recent investments, such as the installation of chargers for electric and hybrid vehicles, reflect the dealership’s adaptability to changing trends. Don also takes pride in supporting the local community, from employing residents to participating in charitable initiatives. For Don, the success of Saitta Trudeau is more than financial—it’s about contributing to the fabric of Pahrump.

With steadfast dedication, forward-thinking leadership, and a relentless focus on customer satisfaction, Saitta Trudeau has firmly established itself as a pillar of the Pahrump community. Guided by Don’s leadership, the dealership continues to flourish, serving the evolving needs of its customers while staying true to its hometown heritage.
