The Pahrump Valley High School Theatre Department is not just bringing the heartwarming and hilarious Steel Magnolias to the stage this February; they’re also teaming up with the school’s Culinary Arts program to create a truly immersive Southern experience. On February 20, 2025, attendees can enjoy a special dinner theatre experience featuring a thoughtfully curated Southern menu inspired by the play.

The dinner, prepared and served by the talented students in PVHS’s Culinary Arts program, will begin at 5 p.m. and includes a ticket to the show for just $30 per person. In addition to the delicious meal, guests can also purchase Southern-style canned goods made by the culinary students, so be sure to bring extra cash to take home a taste of the South.

    Steel Magnolias Dinner Party Menu

    Appetizer

    • Corn Fritters and Pepper Jelly: Crispy golden corn fritters paired with sweet and spicy pepper jelly, a quintessential Southern starter.

    Main Course

    • Southern Fried Chicken: Juicy and crispy chicken with a perfectly seasoned crust, prepared using a traditional buttermilk brine.
    • Southern-style Green Beans: Slow-cooked with onions, garlic, and crispy bacon for a rich, savory flavor.
    • Fried Corn: Sweet corn kernels fried in butter and bacon grease, delivering a decadent, classic side dish.
    • Candied Sweet Potatoes: Tender sweet potatoes in a buttery, caramelized glaze for the perfect touch of sweetness.
    • Buttermilk Biscuits with Whipped Honey Butter: Fluffy, flaky biscuits served with light, airy whipped honey butter.

    Dessert

    • Cuppa Cuppa Cuppa Cake: A nostalgic dessert inspired by Truvy’s iconic recipe, served warm with creamy vanilla ice cream.

This collaboration between the Theatre and Culinary Arts programs allows students to shine both on stage and in the kitchen, showcasing their skills and creativity to the community.

Performances of Steel Magnolias are scheduled for February 13, 14, 15, and 20, 21, 22 at 6 p.m. Tickets for non-dinner theatre performances are $15 for adults and $10 for students and senior citizens. Reservations open to the public on January 20, 2025, and can be purchased online at CUR8.com by searching for “PVHS.”

A Sneak Peek into the World of Steel Magnolias

Get ready to laugh, cry, and feel the magic of live theatre with the PVHS production of Steel Magnolias. To give you a glimpse of what’s in store, the Theatre Department has created a short promotional video featuring the cast and behind-the-scenes highlights.

Make plans now to support PVHS’s talented students and enjoy an evening of entertainment and culinary delights. Whether you’re attending the dinner theatre or one of the other performances, this is an event you won’t want to miss!
