The PVHS Tennis team had a successful outing against Mater East at Sunset Park, with both the boys’ and girls’ teams coming out on top in their respective matches. The boys’ team won by forfeit, but they still dominated in all their matchups when called upon to play, showcasing their depth and readiness.
The girls’ team secured their victory with a strong 16-2 score. Although they were awarded 9 points due to Mater East’s lack of players, the PVHS girls made the most of their matches on the court. Doubles teams Chloe Sitter-Jones and Chanel Anthony, as well as Layla Brunell and Christiana Baang, performed exceptionally well, each pairing securing wins.
The boys’ doubles teams also showed impressive performances. Jace Eichner and Lucas Johnson, Legend Reigns and Chris Jacks, Juan Rodriguez and Mariano Ayala, and the pairing of Juan Rodriguez and Bryce Dykstra all emerged victorious in their matches, highlighting the strength and versatility of the PVHS Tennis program.
Milan Vasquez, one of the standout players for the boys’ team, did not participate in the matches due to slight muscle tightness. “We held him out as a precaution,” a team representative noted. “Hopefully, he will join us this Thursday against our rivals Moapa.” The team is optimistic about Vasquez’s recovery and looks forward to having him back on the court for the next match.
With this strong performance against Mater East, the PVHS Tennis team continues to build momentum as they prepare for their upcoming clash with Moapa. The team remains focused on improving their skills and strategies, aiming to maintain their winning streak throughout the season.
