The Pahrump Valley High School (PVHS) tennis teams took on Adelson High School at home on September 16, 2024. While the girls’ team secured a victory by forfeit, the boys triumphed with a solid 13-3 win.
In singles play for the boys, Milan Vasquez, James Dela Rosa, and Sonny Skinner each won two out of their three matches. Their only loss came against Adelson’s state champion, a strong opponent who proved a tough challenge. In doubles competition, Jace Eichen/Lucas Johnson, Juan Rodriguez/Mariano Ayala, Legend Reigns/Chris Jacks, and Juan Rodriguez/Bryce Dykstra won their matches, helping the team to a comprehensive victory.
On the girls’ side, though the team won by forfeit, several players faced Adelson’s state champion in exhibition singles. Alexis Staples, Jemi Chavez, and Abby Amador all played hard but were unable to overcome the champion’s experience and skill. The girls doubles teams took the night off from competition.
Overall, the PVHS tennis teams displayed resilience and talent, setting a strong foundation as they continue their season.
