A half-century of tradition, leadership and community pride was celebrated Friday, July 24, as more than 250 people gathered inside the Saddle West Showroom for the 50th anniversary of the Miss Pahrump Pageant. The evening honored the program’s rich history while six young women competed for the opportunity to represent Pahrump during the coming year.
Contestants Kinley Smith, Angel Martin, Eva Armendariz, Avery Sampson, Natalie Soto and Aubree Chiancone took the stage before a packed audience, showcasing their poise, personality and talents through multiple phases of competition before one would ultimately earn the title of Miss Pahrump 2026.
The evening began with a stirring performance of the National Anthem by Adelaide Bosket before the contestants made their first appearance on stage. Following the introductions, the audience was introduced to the panel of judges, which included Betsy Martin of Las Vegas and Carli Ivie and Baylee Reidhead, both from Southern Utah.
Reigning Miss Pahrump 2025 Emilee Rodriguez, whose year of service came to an end that evening, played a prominent role throughout the program, entertaining the audience with several dance performances between competition segments.
Following the introduction of the judges, Rodriguez took the stage for her first solo performance before joining in a heartfelt tribute honoring former Miss Pahrump Director Debra Bowman, who passed away earlier this year. Bowman’s husband and youngest daughter accepted the tribute on behalf of the family as the audience reflected on the lasting impact she had on the organization and the countless young women she mentored over the years.
Competition officially began with the Casual Wear portion of the pageant before organizers paused to recognize two longtime supporters of the program. Alice Saitta accepted recognition on behalf of the title sponsor Saitta Trudeau Chrysler Jeep Dodge & Ram, while Saddle West Hotel Casino & Restaurant was also honored for its continued support and for hosting the pageant throughout the years.
Guests were then treated to a commemorative video celebrating the pageant’s 50-year history before the contestants returned to the stage for the talent competition.
Throughout the evening, Rodriguez continued to entertain the audience with additional dance performances. During one of the contestant preparation breaks, 2018 Miss Pahrump Romilyn Carreon energized the crowd with a performance of Dolly Parton’s classic hit “9 to 5.”
A behind-the-scenes video highlighting the contestants’ week leading up to the pageant gave attendees a glimpse into the friendships and memories formed during rehearsals before the competition resumed with the Formal Wear category and on-stage interviews, allowing each contestant to demonstrate confidence, composure and communication skills.
A year-in-review video celebrated Rodriguez’s time as Miss Pahrump, showcasing many of the appearances, community events and service opportunities she experienced throughout her reign. Following an intermission, Rodriguez returned to the stage one final time for her farewell walk as Miss Pahrump 2025 before the evening’s individual awards and final results were announced.
Several contestants were recognized for their outstanding performances throughout the competition.
Angel Martin received the Director’s Award, recognizing the contestant selected by the pageant board for being punctual, easy to work with and a fast learner throughout pageant week.
Eva Armendariz earned two awards, being voted Miss Congeniality by her fellow contestants while also receiving the Photogenic Award.
The Casual Wear competition resulted in an unusual three-way tie, with Kinley Smith, Eva Armendariz and Avery Sampson each sharing top honors.
Kinley Smith captured first place in the Talent competition, while Natalie Soto earned top honors in both the Formal Wear and On-Stage Interview categories.
The evening concluded with the announcement of the 2026 Miss Pahrump court.
Kinley Smith was named Second Attendant, followed by Eva Armendariz as First Attendant.
Finally, Natalie Soto was crowned Miss Pahrump 2026, receiving the tiara and sash from Rodriguez to officially begin her year representing the Pahrump community.
For Pageant Board Member Judy Maughan, the pageant’s golden anniversary served as a reminder of why the program has remained an important part of the community for five decades.
“I just love the Miss Pahrump Pageant!” Maughan said. “I love what it does in teaching poise, confidence, and in cultivating new friendships for these young women! This year, celebrating 50 years with so many of the past queens in attendance made this pageant particularly special. It takes a lot of time and work from the board members and the many, many volunteers to create this event, but it is so worth it, and it is something that can bring our town all together!
“We also are so grateful to our sponsors, because without them, this event would not be possible.”
As the Miss Pahrump Pageant celebrated its 50th anniversary, the evening reflected not only on the legacy of the women who have worn the crown over the past half-century but also on the program’s continued mission of developing confidence, leadership and lifelong friendships among young women in the community. With another successful pageant in the books and Natalie Soto beginning her reign as Miss Pahrump 2026, the organization looks ahead to continuing a tradition that has united and inspired Pahrump for generations.
