Pahrump residents will have the opportunity to access essential preventive healthcare close to home later this month, as Optum – Nevada brings its Medicine on the Move mobile medical center to town. On Thursday, August 28, 2025, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., the state-of-the-art mobile unit will be stationed at Southwest Medical’s Pahrump Health Care Center, located at 2210 E. Calvada Blvd.
This visit is part of Optum’s ongoing mission to expand access to care across Southern and Northern Nevada by offering high-quality health screenings directly within communities. The featured service for the Pahrump stop is on-site mammography, a critical screening tool used in the early detection of breast cancer.
Mammograms are low-dose X-rays that allow doctors to look for early signs of breast cancer, often before symptoms appear. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), early detection through routine mammography can significantly improve survival rates, reduce the need for aggressive treatment, and increase the likelihood of successful recovery. It is recommended that women ages 40 and older talk to their healthcare provider about when to begin screening and how often to schedule mammograms, based on individual risk factors.
By offering mobile mammograms free of charge to Optum – Nevada members, Medicine on the Move aims to eliminate some of the most common barriers to care: transportation, scheduling difficulties, and limited access to providers in rural or underserved areas.
Appointments are required and can be made by calling 1-800-382-0870 (TTY 711). Individuals are encouraged to schedule early, as time slots may fill quickly. Additional information about the program and other services is available at Optum.com/Nevada.
Optum – Nevada is the state’s largest multispecialty medical group, with more than 350 healthcare providers across its network, including Optum Specialty Care, Optum Primary Care, and Southwest Medical. The organization also connects Medicare Advantage patients with a vast network of contracted primary and specialty care professionals.
Focused on creating a healthcare system that works better for everyone, Optum believes that success starts with the health and happiness of its patients. Through initiatives like Medicine on the Move, Optum is bringing compassionate, convenient care directly to the communities that need it most.
