For the past decade, Jason Odegard has been a cornerstone of Pahrump Valley High School, serving as an Assistant Principal with a deep commitment to fostering academic growth and building a strong school community. With a background rooted in teaching and school administration, Mr. Odegard’s journey to his current role is marked by a passion for education and a dedication to student success.

Mr. Odegard began his career in education as a math and science teacher at Rosemary Clarke Middle School (RCMS). His teaching repertoire expanded when he transitioned to Pahrump Valley High School (PVHS), where he taught a variety of science subjects. His leadership capabilities soon led him to the role of principal at Floyd Elementary School, a position he held for three years before returning to PVHS as an Assistant Principal. Reflecting on his journey, Mr. Odegard shared, “Teaching and administration have both been incredibly rewarding. Each role provided unique challenges and learning experiences that have shaped my approach to education and leadership.”

One of Mr. Odegard’s primary goals for PVHS is to ensure that every student experiences a year’s worth of growth each academic year. He firmly believes that strong instruction and rigorous evaluation of data are key to achieving this goal. This data-driven approach helps tailor educational strategies to meet the diverse needs of students, ensuring that each one receives the support necessary to thrive.

A typical day for Mr. Odegard as a school administrator is anything but typical. “Every day has its own set of joys. Every day involves working with students, staff, and parents in a variety of ways,” he noted. Whether it’s addressing student concerns, collaborating with teachers to improve instructional methods, or engaging with parents to foster a supportive home-school connection, Mr. Odegard’s days are filled with dynamic interactions that underscore his dedication to the school community.

Engaging with students, parents, and the broader community is a cornerstone of Mr. Odegard’s approach to education. He emphasizes the importance of collaboration and open communication. “Collaborating with all of those groups is important,” he stated. By fostering strong relationships with these key stakeholders, Mr. Odegard ensures that everyone is involved in the educational process, creating a cohesive and supportive environment for students.

Outside of his professional life, Mr. Odegard shares, “I enjoy spending time with family and traveling.” These activities not only offer relaxation and rejuvenation but also enrich his perspective, allowing him to return to his professional duties with renewed energy and insights, providing a necessary balance to his demanding role at PVHS.

With his extensive experience and unwavering commitment to education, Mr. Odegard continues to play a pivotal role in the success and development of Pahrump Valley High School. His focus on student growth, strong instruction, and community collaboration has made a lasting impact, and his vision for the future promises continued excellence for PVHS.
