Hometown Holidays Craft Show Brings Community Together for Two Festive Days

The Bob Ruud Community Center was filled with cheer, creativity, and Christmas spirit as Hometown Holidays returned December 5 and 6, offering one of the season’s most beloved craft shows in Pahrump. Hosted by Ashley Welch of Art from the Heart by Ashley, the two-day event once again proved why so many local makers and shoppers look forward to it all year.

Vendors lined the community center with handmade gifts, holiday décor, baked goods, art, jewelry, and one-of-a-kind creations that made the show feel like a locally crafted winter marketplace. According to Welch, the turnout was strong from start to finish, creating ideal conditions for vendors and holiday shoppers alike. “It was great! We had a steady flow of traffic both days,” she said. “For a lot of vendors this is their favorite show of the year, since it’s Christmas time…and most of them did really great!”

Several vendors shared with Welch after the event that they experienced some of their highest sales ever, celebrating both the financial success and the lively atmosphere that filled the room throughout the weekend. Two crowd favorites—Ashes from Desert Forest Farms Sourdough Shop and Lakyn Meads of Eat CAKE!—even sold out entirely. For Welch and the other artisans, hitting that milestone is especially meaningful. “We all get so excited when a baker sells out!” she said.

Alongside the holiday shopping, Hometown Holidays continued its tradition of community giving with a pet food drive and an adoption display featuring animals from West Star Ranch. The response, Welch said, exceeded expectations. “The dog and cat food drive and dog adoption display went amazing!” she shared. “Of course all of my vendors are so generous and donate to the cause, and the public this year really stepped it up and brought in so much more to donate. We also got cash donations and the interest in the dogs made my heart so happy.”

While no animals were adopted over the weekend, interest in the pets was high, and West Star Ranch reported receiving new visitors after the event. Organizers hope the momentum continues—especially with the holidays approaching—and encourage residents to consider stopping by the rescue to meet the animals who are still waiting for a home.

Welch said the entire weekend was filled with the kind of warmth and camaraderie that defines small-town holiday events. “Overall it was a wonderful show with lots of laughs and great moments that I’ll always cherish,” she said.
