Aspiring drivers in Nevada now have an accessible and affordable option to fulfill their driver’s education requirements through Great Basin College (GBC). For just $99, participants aged 15 and older can enroll in a comprehensive 30-hour online Driver Education course designed to prepare them for the road ahead.

The course is available 24/7, allowing students to complete the material at their own pace and on their own schedule. This flexibility is ideal for busy students balancing school, extracurricular activities, or part-time jobs. Upon successful completion of the course, participants receive a certificate from GBC, which they can present to the Nevada DMV as part of the licensing process.

    Comprehensive Curriculum

The program covers a wide range of essential topics to ensure students are well-prepared for the responsibilities of driving. Topics include:

    • Traffic Laws and Rules of the Road: Understanding the laws that govern driving in Nevada.
    • Vehicle Control Techniques: Mastering basic vehicle handling and maneuvers.
    • Managing Risk and Defensive Driving Habits: Learning to anticipate and respond to potential hazards.
    • Driving in Different Environments: Navigating urban and rural areas, intersections, and highways.
    • Unfavorable Conditions and Emergencies: Preparing for driving in adverse weather and handling unexpected situations.
    • The Dangers of Impaired and Distracted Driving: Recognizing and avoiding risky behaviors on the road.
    • Planning for Travel and Vehicle Maintenance: Practical tips for long-term driving success.

The GBC Driver Education program emphasizes not only the technical skills needed to operate a vehicle but also the importance of responsible and defensive driving habits. By addressing topics such as sharing the road and the consequences of impaired driving, the course aims to create safe and conscientious drivers.

For a one-time fee of $99, students gain access to an engaging and thorough curriculum designed to meet state requirements and provide practical knowledge for everyday driving. Whether you’re a teenager eager to earn your first driver’s license or a parent looking for a reliable program for your child, Great Basin College’s Driver Education course is a valuable investment.

Upcoming sessions are scheduled as follows:

    • January 8 – March 5, 2025: Instructor Christopher Murphy
    • February 5 – April 2, 2025: Instructor Joe deBraga
    • March 5 – April 30, 2025: Instructor Bernadette Kunkel
    • April 9 – June 4, 2025: Instructor Luke Sellers

Participants must register before the class start date to receive login credentials, which will be emailed the day before the course begins.

To learn more or to enroll, visit Great Basin College’s Driver Education webpage or contact the college directly.
