Under clear skies and warm spring sunshine, the parking lot outside Rubalcaba’s Mexican Restaurant transformed into a lively hub of chrome, creativity and canine charm on Saturday, April 11, as residents gathered for a car show and doggie beauty pageant benefiting Never Forgotten Animal Society.

From the moment the event got underway, the variety on display made it clear there was something for everyone. More than a couple dozen vehicles lined the lot, showcasing everything from sleek sports cars to timeless classics, alongside rugged jeeps, lifted trucks and other custom builds. Attendees took their time strolling through the rows, admiring the craftsmanship, swapping stories with owners and soaking in the pride each participant brought to the show.

When the judging wrapped up, it was Brandon Francis who drove away with top honors, earning the car show win with his standout jeep, a crowd favorite that combined style and personality.

Just steps away, a different kind of competition was capturing hearts. The doggie beauty pageant featured a dozen adorable contestants, each bringing their own flair to the friendly contest. With a mix of breeds and plenty of personality on display, the “bestest boys and girls” paraded in front of spectators who also served as judges, drawing smiles, laughter and more than a few cheers.

In what proved to be a close and spirited competition, the ultimate winner was a Boston terrier, contestant number one, whose charm and presence set it apart in a field full of lovable competitors.

Throughout the day, the event carried an easygoing, welcoming atmosphere. Families, friends and animal lovers mingled as they moved between the cars and the pageant area, stopping often to pet the dogs and connect with others in the community. Live music provided by Dan Loveless added to the festive tone, giving the gathering a steady rhythm that matched the upbeat energy of the crowd.

More than just a day of fun, the event served a meaningful purpose. Proceeds and awareness generated during the show went toward supporting Never Forgotten Animal Society, helping the organization continue its work caring for and advocating for animals in need.

By the end of the afternoon, it was clear the event had struck the perfect balance—bringing together car enthusiasts, pet lovers and community members for a day that was equal parts entertaining and impactful.
